Has this critter founded any cities?

You may not know what the creature is, but as a Bard there is a chance you may know something about him or this area.

Rygar waking up. What is all the talking about???? Looking around And who/what is the little thing?

To the oversized brute: He's friend, not foe, my simian comrade.

Azmus offers some food to the newcomer.

(Speaking in common)Forgive me that I cannot address you in a sylvan tongue. Welcome to our campsite, Fanis Joy-of-Morning-Dew. Or perhaps I should say, thank you for the hospitality of your forest, much welcome to weary travelers such as ourselves.

You have our friendship-- you, and all your crystal tribe.

Fanis makes a graceful hop to the Bard and gives him a lopsided grin...
"and who is the Little Wise One with the Silver Tongue" he spins in a crazy kicking dance "who knows of the Company of Crystal?"

Azmus Waczendorff at your service. The one you have found is Gull. The smelly one is Rygar. The right sized one who sleeps yet is Forge. And that's Potatoes.

Azmus gestures one by one at his colleagues.

We travel in search of a great tomb that lies within the mountain beyond the woods. We go there to recover a lost friend and return him, alive or dead, to his people.

Gull moves back toward the perimeter to resume his watch, within earshot - and mouth-shot of course.

Sniffing pitts. Smelly? Makes a nasty face. Ooh.... is there a watering hole nearby?

Before you head off for a drink, Rygar, could you pass me that map our townfriend gave you?

Passes map to Azmus.

Takes out a piece of paper and a pen. Copies the map twice onto the paper, once with greater detail, and once in a sketchy way.

Passes the sketchier sketch to Fanis. Tucks away the more detailed copy. Returns the original to Rygar.

This here is our destination, unless you tell us otherwise. By what approach can we pass to best respect your woodland? And do you know what we shall find at the end of such a way?

Potestas, seeing that the negotiations are being handled by those more skillful than he, turns his back to the proceedings and watches the woods as well.

Holding his nose briefly, he says, There is a small stream within hopping distance, certainly. Fanis examines the Map very carefully...
the Mouth of Poison, he mutters... Whatever path you take is fine, as long as it's away from THAT destination.

/sighs wistfully

Unhappily, that is indeed our destination. And so we learn that whatever path we take will be less than fine. This is good to know.

Is there any word you can share with us of blessings or banes along the way, or any about this Mouth of Poison? And is there any service we can perform for you and yours before we make our approach to that ill-fated Maw? (I speak here of the tomb, not of Rygar.)

Perhaps I shall accompany you to the very Lips of the Mouth, yes, that I can do.

The restless dead are your only concern between here and there, he says But their lairs are easily avoided.

A distant eerie howl fills the silence

I know little of the restless dead. How are their lairs recognized, so we may avoid them? And what is that howl? Surely not they....

Rygar draws his mageslayers and moves to the front of the pack. Great, Undead and now Howlers..... Be at the ready.....

Just once, I'd like to be able to sleep through the night without being attacked by undead wolves...

Potestas rolls out of bed, readies his crossbow, and turns his back to the fire, scanning the gloom

Don't go pokin' your nose into caves, give a wide berth to black twisted trees, and stay out of the rings of toadstools and you'll be fine

Gull pushes off the tree he was leaning against, stretches, scratches and walks into the trees. About 5 minutes later he returns and settles down next to the embers.

So... ready to move?

Finishes rolling up his bedroll, brushing the last of the leaves and twigs off of it.

By all means. Lets proceed to certain doom. After that breakfast, it would be a blessing...

Traveling along the road you come to a path in the woods around midday, along the way your guide points out the Black Twisted trees he warned you about.

Fanis motions into the trees and states "This is the route to the Mouth of Poison"

Is there any other route into the tomb? A hidden stairway, perhaps? A web-filled tunnel?

Posted: Fri Feb 15, 2008 4:54 pm
by Chaosraven
Feeling adventurous, are you? he grins There is such a tunnel, not that I'd suggest using it... anything large enough to cover that in strands of silk is nothing to be trifled with

Well, I think we'd do better to follow your guidance, since these are woods and ways you know better than we do.

It does seem our path lies beyond the twisted bark. How bad is its bite?
