For 2021, I managed X-50.5 - let's see how far I get this year. I don't expect to match that (weight loss tends to slow down as you lose weight), but I'm currently about 60 from where I'd prefer to end up.

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread
The objective for winter is to remain under 190 (which I've probably already flubbed). I hope to finish the year at 180 or below. I also hope to exceed my long-term average of 590 miles walked. I won't make much progress toward either goal until April or May.

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread
I'm a fan of Vinyl Junkies on YouTube, and the host of that, Sam, has lost a tremendous amount of weight sticking to his 15,000 steps a day goal. He'll even spend most of his live shows standing up and doing steps. It's quite inspiring.
I5,000 may be too ambitious for me, but I'm going to make a concerted effort to get in 10,000. Even with my seated office job, there's no really no reason I shouldn't be able to fit that in.
I ordered a stand-up desk back in May, and they sent it to me broken. I tried to get a replacement but with all the shipping snafus and stock shortages they didn't get it sent out until November. And then sent it to the wrong address, even after I had contacted them and had confirmation of my change of address. Finally they said they don't know when they'll ever have any back in stock so I just asked for a refund and now I'm waiting on that. It's been a 6-month shitshow.

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread
First weigh-in of the year this morning was at 206.7. Which was rather surprising, seeing as how I've eaten nothing but junk food and hadn't been running run since we left for the Rose Bowl last Friday.
Primary goal is to get under 200 this year. Secondary goal is to get down to 193, which would be a full 40 lbs down from where I started last year.

After sitting home and watched the Rose Parade on Saturday, I've walked three miles each morning since. I've been at this low 240s barrier for awhile. I want to finish January in the 230s.

I haven't been participating in the weight loss threads because I put on so much weight after my transplant that I was embarrassed to even post the numbers. Between the steroids, the stopping of exercise (first due to recovery and then because I got out of the habit), and for the last 2 years, the sitting at my computer for 12-16 hours per day instead of doing in-person training where I would be standing and walking around the whole time, I gained 40 pounds.
But despite the embarrassment, I need to put in the work to get healthier, so hopefully this helps. My focus might be more on number of days I exercise rather than weight loss, but I'll be here.

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread
Definitely nothing to be embarrassed about MHS. I think most people are in the same boat. My doctor told me he's stopped worrying about everyone's extra 10-15 pounds as long as their bloodwork stays good, because almost every patient has gained "quarantine weight."
I started 10,000 steps a day at the start of the year, and so far I've been feeling MUCH better. I'm also in a work from home position where not leaving the chair except for bathroom breaks was the norm, and there were days I literally could crawl from the chair straight to bed I had so little energy.
I'm doing a morning walk of roughly 2 miles, another 1-2 miles at lunch, then making up the shortfall in the afternoon or evenings around the house. I think the important piece is not necessarily the distance, but the fact that I'm being forced to get up and outside a couple of times a day. I've also got the little thing on my watch that tells me to stand up every hour, and that has really helped as well.

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread
I smashed a toe on my right foot so I won't be taking any long walks for awhile. It's not broken so I'm hoping it heals up fairly quickly. The weather's mostly prohibitive anyway, but I'd been squeezing in 1-2 days a week...just enough to keep my muscles from melting away.

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread
Thankfully being Central Florida there's hardly a half dozen days a year I can't take my morning walk, which has been a boon for me. In July it will eleven years that I've been taking daily walks. I've just worn out yet another pair of sneakers/trainers/whatever folks are calling them now. I didn't really know they were worn out till I brought out a new pair from the closet and realized how nice a new pair feels!

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread
January through March is mostly no-go in New England. Even when we get the odd run of nice days, the sidewalks are buried or slippery. When I was younger I would switch to hiking boots, but now that's a hell nah.
Congrats on sticking with it for so long. I just passed my 17th anniversary and estimate that I've covered 10,400 miles, give or take. I buy a new pair of walking shoes every year. They start to wear out after 500 miles, and you need to pamper your feet.

I'm joining the group this year. Jan 10th was the start of the new semester and thus the official end of by lazy Xmas vacation so I'm using it as my starting point.
My goal is a modest 86.4/190. BTW, at some point I'll probably switch back to pounds but right now the scale has kg so that is the number I'll give.

Not much of a drop but I had a "screw it" pizza, soda, and homemade cookies day in there and a dinner with friends last night, so those threw me off track. No outings planned this week so should be easier to stay on target. Goals for next Saturday: 204.

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread
I don't have high hopes for the rest of this winter and the spring. In order to lose weight like I was, I need to be very careful about what I eat, making sure that I get the right nutrients to balance out the restricted calorie intake. Right now money has become an issue, and I'm having to get by on cheaper food, which makes that impossible.

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread
My wife told me today she doesn't want me to lose more weight . She says the skin under my chin will get wrinkly . I think this isn't the reason, it is more likely that she's already had to buy me a bunch of new shorts and pants and she doesn't want to have to do that again. Also my Tommy Bahama shirts are just hanging on me. But damn it's nice to take an hour walk and no longer have my feet ache afterwards. So if she really wants me to stop losing weight, there better be some fresh sugar cookies waiting for me after my morning walk
