The Star Wars universe really does need a show about a mandolin playing bounty hunter.

His beautiful playing is the first thing his bounties hear like Lee Van Cleef and his harmonica in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.hepcat wrote:The Star Wars universe really does need a show about a mandolin playing bounty hunter.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Just finished watching it and enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing the series develop. It will be eight episodes, and should be fully released by year's end.

Re: [series] The Mandalorian ......Disney
Just finished...interesting start and very curious to see where the story goes. My only very minor quibble is that that the effects sometimes looked off on my 4K tv...the real actors don't always blend well with the CG sets, or creature animations would seem a little awkward. It's never bad enough to be a real distraction though.

Re: [series] The Mandalorian ......Disney
They looked off on my non-4K TV. That's the sacrifice we have to make for a lower budget, and that's what's taking my brain some time to wrap around. To date we've only seen Star Wars one of two ways - multi-million dollar blockbuster movie, or animated. The transition to lower budget effects and Star Trekkian people-in-facial-prosthetic aliens is taking some real effort to digest on my part.disarm wrote:My only very minor quibble is that that the effects sometimes looked off on my 4K tv...

Apparently, as a Verizon Fios customer I'm getting Disney+ free for a full year, but I haven't yet received the email (said to be out today) with the sign-up link.

I thought the effects on the first episode were fantastic. Overall I really liked the episode. It feels a lot like how I wanted Rogue One to be.

Re: [series] The Mandalorian ......Disney
My initial impression is that it was fine.
It's good enough that I'm looking forward to watching the next one but it's not something I'm going to give all that much thought to when it's not right in front of my face.

As a Verizon wireless customer, my text message indicating one free year of Disney+ (though I must pay tax) arrived on the evening of 11/15.
I enjoyed the first episode and will continue watching.
