Yeah. There are a lot that tempt me. But then I remember that I have a HUGE backlog. And they'll be on sale again. So far I haven't seen anything I *need*. We'll see how I feel by the end. I may pick up a few just to get the extra $5 off $30.
So.... not sure I was very helpful there.

It's the JetFred method. If you own all the games, they can't make you buy any more games!

That's a LOT of gameplay for $27 (assuming you like open world type games).

Man, I keep debating getting Rimworld. But it seems pricey for what appears to be an indie game with lower end graphics. Am I wrong on that and it more than makes up for the 90s look with great gameplay and longevity?
...please say I’m not. Otherwise I’ll spend even more money on this damn sale.

It looks too complicated for me. Graphics are retro but passable.

I like Rimworld as a Space Dwarf Fortress but it’s not the same longevity — or headaches.

I haven't played with the DLC but DF feels like you are building a fortress. Rimworld felt like you are keeping a dozen people alive. I liked Rimworld well enough but I keep coming back to DF and I've yet to go back to Rimworld. For context, Steam says I played Rimworld 287 hours before putting it down. That's a pretty damned good run for $30. (not sure how much of that was paused doing other things, but even cut in half that's a good run)

As a fan of the board game, I wouldn't bother. The only reason to play the video game is because you want to play the board game but the setup and teardown and execution of the board game is pretty time consuming and the video game automates most of that. On the other hand, there are a thousand dungeon crawler video games you could be playing. As a board game Gloomhaven is revolutionary. As a video game it's... uhhh... not.
Note: I've never played the video game. It has been on my wishlist since the day it could be added, but since the campaign doesn't exist yet, I'm not motivated to try it and even if there was, I could be playing Divinity: OS2, Pathfinder: Kingmaker or any of a huge number of other tactical, story driven RPGs.

Yeah, I see no reason to rush into buying Gloomhaven before they finish baking it. If you want a decent price for a solid digital adaptation of a modern classic tabletop game, go with Race for the Galaxy and its DLC instead:coopasonic wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 3:37 pmAs a fan of the board game, I wouldn't bother. Damn it. There were 15 minutes left and I caved. More games I'm not going to play, probably.
Doom Classic Complete
Doom 64
Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour
Downwell
Undertale
Fallout 4: GOTY
I guess that's pretty good for $32 CAD/$24 USD... most of it's Fallout.
Don't laugh, but I've actually never played Doom or Duke Nukem 3D. I mean, I'm familiar with them, but I've never owned copies or played them through.

I'd had them on my wishlist forever... I presumed they'd show up in a cheap bundle or Humble Monthly eventually, but it never happened. Which, of course, means they'll be featured next month.
