Question: is notification of thread replies working?
Hey all,
I've been absent from OO for a long time, but recently made a couple of posts in two threads, and notice that I'm not receiving notifications of replies at all, even though I think I'm set up for them (I made a point of checking in my user control panel a few days back). Is everyone else getting timely notifications?
Thanks, José aka Papageno

Hmm, not working for me. It has my correct email address too, and I just checked and under posting preferences it has "notify me of new replies," but no go.
Thanks for the welcome back, though.

Re: Question: is notification of thread replies working?
I have to do that as a separate step now? I thought I was automatically subscribed to threads when I created them or posted a reply in them. Isn't that the way it used to be? Just now, for instance, below this editing field, it shows a check box, which is checked, that states "Notify me when a reply is posted." How would I be notified if not by email?LawBeefaroni wrote:WB!

There's no separate step. That box remains checked by default, and I am getting all my notifications. Are you sure yours aren't going to a Spam or Promotions/Forums/Other folder?

Weird, the notification box for me has always been unchecked by default.Zaxxon wrote:There's no separate step. That box remains checked by default, and I am getting all my notifications. Are you sure yours aren't going to a Spam or Promotions/Forums/Other folder?

Sure enough, turned out the notifications were in the spam folder, supposedly because they "violate Google's recommended email sender guidelines" whatever that means. When I clicked on "learn more" here's the link it took me to:
I marked it as "not spam" of course but we'll see how long that holds.
Weird, did I forget to paste the link or what?

How do you stop receiving emails that someone quoted you? I don't want to receive that email and I can't find a way to disable it.

That's a Tapatalk thing, not a forum software thing.McNutt wrote:How do you stop receiving emails that someone quoted you? I don't want to receive that email and I can't find a way to disable it.

Anyone receiving their notifications lately? I'm not. They haven't been spamholed, either.

Gmail was horking out errors that IPv6 config wasn't right.. So... I disabled IPv6 in the mail daemon and kicked it.Zaxxon wrote:Anyone receiving their notifications lately? I'm not. They haven't been spamholed, either.
Is it working now?
No.

Ok I see replies going to Zaxxon now -- not sure when the update happened that allowed IPv6 but I turned that shit off in postfix (will figure out the overall OS in the meantime). I saw a successful deliver to Zaxxon so it should be fine now (it was only gmail being affected it would seem).
No.

Yup, it is now working for me as well. Apparently you all like Zaxxon better than me, as I reported the problem a while ago. Hmph.

Sheesh, this is one small box. Thankfully, everything's packed in nicely this time. Not too tight nor too loose (someone's sig in 3, 2, ...). - Hepcat

Yeah don't take my lack of response personally -- I'm juggling my family, new job and trying to figure out if I'm ready to write my first exams in my masters degree.. Haven't had a lot of time to check in; my apologies.RMC wrote:Yup, it is now working for me as well. Apparently you all like Zaxxon better than me, as I reported the problem a while ago. Hmph.

I was teasing. Not a problem, you do this for free so I did not mean to even give the hint that I was upset. I was joking.FishPants wrote:Yeah don't take my lack of response personally -- I'm juggling my family, new job and trying to figure out if I'm ready to write my first exams in my masters degree.. Thanks for fixing it, you are awesome!
