There's the post-Covid correction I was expecting. Exacerbated by a crap workout/eating week. Not too concerned though. While I'm above my good April numbers, I'm still on average with May. Got back on the rower this week for the first time since I was sick, so I'm hoping that will help.

Back in the US.

It will be interesting to see if the trend continues. My lunches are a lot smaller now that I am not eating the (free to teachers) school lunch but I've also lost a lot of incidental sets of stairs in my day. Still it feels good to hit 88 even if 7 pounds in 5.5 months doesn't sound that impressive.

Nothing like a bout of covid to help one drop a little weight, even though fatigue kept me from exercising. This is the first time I've been below 190 this year.

8/28/2020 - I started tracking my weight officially at a fairly fit 152.0 pounds.

4/30/2021 - I hit my official post high school low of 139.0 pounds.

Somewhere in here I discovered the very Daehawk-esque food finding of Scorching Hot Cheddar Cheez-it Grooves

7/1/2022 - I'm baaaack. 151.0 pounds.

I feel like my eating is pretty close to what I was when I was losing that weight, except for those damn cheez-its. Before my evening snack was cracked pepper and olive oil triscuits which were an interesting balance of flavor and mouth torture. The scorching hot grooves have a much better taste AND a much more pleasing texture that never attempts to remove the skin from the roof of your mouth. Apparently that was a problematic discovery from a weight perspective.

I share this here to let you know that even us naturally skinny folks can totally blow it.

152, I think I weight that in 10th grade, maybe? I know I was 165 as a senior.

Thank your lucky stars that you didn't discover them at Ollie's marked down by 75%, and proceed to buy a dozen boxes of them.

Over the past few weeks, I've been keeping a much closer eye on what I eat and trying to cut out excess sugars. I've upped my running time to ensure I'm doing at least 25 minutes a day (usually 30). I've been close to 10K steps per day. I cut out my nightly soda.

And after all of that I have...gained nearly 2 pounds and am back to where I started on the year.

I give up. :?

Yeah at this point I've switched my mindset from "getting back down to 180" to "avoiding 300."

As someone sitting in the 250s and has been up to 285, I recommend that you lower that ceiling. Iirc, you’re also under my 6’ height.

No matter what I try, my weight and my running pace have stayed nearly static over the past 7 months, with the very occasional peak or valley that isn't sustained.

So I'm in the same boat. I've mostly quit trying to make significant gains and have shifted primarily to maintenance mode. Not a bad thing necessarily (I'm still down 15 lbs from this time last year), but not nearly as energizing.

Yeah I was being a bit facetious, but it has become apparent that getting down to that goal weight would take major dietary changes that I'm not really willing to make. Instead, I just want to focus on whether or not I feel good. And so far, that means just keeping up with my running and rowing.

I try to keep in mind that the weight is only one factor, and lack of progress in that area does not necessarily mean lack of progress in other areas. Stronger heart, better lung capacity, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, stress relief - there are numerous areas that are giving me extremely positive health benefits that are not reflected on the scale.

Interesting experiment going on right now. We had a major project at work that went a bit sideways, and I've been putting in 18 hour days for the past 5 days.

So on the one side I have been putting in pretty much zero exercise or movement because I've been stuck at my desk. On the other side, I've barely been able to grab food so I'm pretty much starving myself. Which side will win? Stay tuned.

I think I'm less interested in boobs ever since I've grown my own manly hairy pair. Going shirtless in the grocery store could really cut down on my food expenses. Luckily the new price point is impacting my purchasing.

Backslid for the second week in a row. Not good. I was a little careless with diet, and instead of walking I've been working on a small landscaping project. Still exercising for an hour a day but not burning as many calories. I expect to finish it tomorrow morning and will start walking again as soon as the temperature permits (Thursday's going to be 100 degrees).

Sonic has great ice, and they'll sell it to you by the cup. I can snack on their route 44 size cup of ice for at least an hour. Have to use a spoon though or my tongue gets sore.

I seem to have stalled. I've noticed that I've started to snack just a little and have ice cream after dinner a couple of times a week. Right after we moved back I have busy settling back into this house. Now I'm a little more sedentary. My workshop is put together and about as organize as I get and my projects don't involve my whole body as much as dealing with plywood and boards while making a workbench.

The real challenge is in two weeks when we have a 4 day family reunion as the centerpiece of a 2 week trip to scout out SE PA. Eating, talking, and board gaming are great but also a challenge.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Re: The Redoubtable 2022 Weight Loss Thread

It's been a month since last check-in, and boom! 2.2 pounds down, tying my low for the year. It was a crazy month - I had a vacation in there where I was walking 20-30,000 steps a day which probably helped. Then I was sick for a week which also probably helped.

I'm trying to reset my thinking which up to this point has been "I don't have to focus on the food as much as long as I'm running." It doesn't work, it's never worked, and at best it's allowed me to just break even. I'm continuing to work out, but I'm not killing myself. Walk/runs of 2 miles 3-4 times a week, 20 minutes on the rower a day is my current goal. The rest is just getting my eating under control.

Hmm, I thought I ate well this week but I didn't exercise as much due to a temporary injury to my toe.

I knew this would be a bad week due to last week's mini vacation. Too many restaurant meals.
