I loved this movie...though maybe it was just me but it seemed to jump from scene to scene without a lot of weaving in between.

Nice try you airplane shill.
I'm not gonna pay for that expensive airplane oxygen. I'll just wait for those other suckers to exhale.

I bring nitrous oxide. That way the last thing folks hear as the plane goes down is me giggling insanely. Adds a little levity to the end of things.

By nitrous oxide, hepcat means booze.
He is also prone to giggling during board game drinking.

It had been what...8 or so years since Edgin's wife was murdered and then they burned the body. So would that tablet have fixed all that?

Oh, the tablet. That thing casts True Resurrection, so yeah - years and ashes wouldn't have been a problem.

It's been released on Amazon Prime. Okay but I was unimpressed.

Did you wait for Jarnathan before starting the movie? His insight and presence is truly important. The movie just doesn't have the same impact if Jarnathan isn't there.

I'll be honest. I totally fell for that when they were setting it up. I really thought he was a ringer.

I am surprised by how much I love this movie. It is just a great to me. id give it a 10. Ive watched at least 20 reaction videos to it also. The best ones are when its watched and reacted to by DnD players or DnD GMs. They know everything thats going on and can call out the spells as they go...even notice the easter egg stuff.

That's a mediocre score for D&D! Are you sure it wasn't a natural 20?

Not a Natural 20 but it succeeds where it shouldn’t. Weighted dice keeps coming up 17.

It got a +2 from casting Zagyg's Popular License in advance, though.

I had the same reaction. I'm not a huge D&D nerd, but I know enough about it to appreciate the movie. You could tell that for once Hollywood hired writers and a director that actually knew the source material. I also enjoyed Chris Pine in the movie, he's normally hit or miss with me but he played the goofy Bard really well.Daehawk wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 6:18 pm I am surprised by how much I love this movie. Didn't hurt they had a budget of $150 million. That a big reason to me as to why it is so good. No bad cgi no bad outfits, and no bad effects really help it. Its not cheesy.
But it only made $207 million worldwide. So Im not sure we'll ever see a sequel. Story wise I see at least two more movies that can be made.

Maybe. It was coming into it with the same title as a series of films with a reputation for being horrible, and right after Wizards of the Coast shot themselves in the foot - a lot of people weren't in a D&D-friendly mood right then.Daehawk wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 2:08 pm Didn't hurt they had a budget of $150 million. I think the last DnD movie around 2000 had a budget of $60 million. At that point its lain solely at the actors feet....and I dont recall anyone but Jeremy Irons in that movie even lol.Blackhawk wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 10:27 amMaybe. The script matters, too. And theirs was awful.Daehawk wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 2:43 pmI think the last DnD movie around 2000 had a budget of $60 million. Ah.
There was this wizard, see? And he wanted to do some bad stuff. It involved a legendary artifact, right? And so he used that to make dragons do stuff. A team of good guys, who consisted entirely of comedy relief, arrived and made it stop.

Re: [Movie] Dungeons & Dragons - again?
I watched it again now that it's on TV I already pay for. As a parody of D&D, it's pretty good. I'm not sure anyone without prior D&D experience would get most of the references or even find it to be a cohesive movie (my daughter asked lots of questions) -- kind of what I thought about Lynch's Dune.

I remember watching that. They were also in DC Cab with Mr T.
Awww crap. I went to look them up and one of the brothers , David, died in 2020 at age 62.
EDIT: Well guess this didn't help......this is what was posted as their daily diet in the late 70s early 80s for their bodybuilding.
