Does anyone other than me on the forum live in the City of Alexandria in Virginia?

Not specifically Alexandria, couple towns over to the west, about 25 miles as the crow flies.

I am 99% sure I know why the question was asked (it doesn't involve raydude helping Fireball move) but I don't want to be the one who spells it out in the thread, either.

Felt like I did when I was traveling for work. Spent a week or two each month for the past 10 years at either the Springhill Suites or Courtyard just up the street from the Eisenhower Ave Metro station.
Been over a year since I’ve been back though.

Visited for a long weekend a couple of years ago. Liked it. At least, the touristy part we saw.

Trust me when I say part of that area will be unrecognizable whenever you have to come back.

I have a good friend in Springfield, VA who did the 9/11 memorial mural at the Pentagon (among other things). I've also spent time working in Fairfax, Tyson's Corner, and Falls Church. But Alexandria? I think I got drunk at a party there, once.

I don't know why I was scared. I found a nice potted plant at my door, had a good night's sleep and I. Feel. Fine. Now.

Oh, I'm sure. They were doing a TON of construction last time I was there (Feb 2020).

Things have completely exploded around where the AMC/Ted's is right by Eisenhower Ave. Metro. That one office building into apartment conversion is done, the WMATA HQ building is growing, and another 2 or 3 (I can't totally tell) apartment buildings (and a Wegmans!) are going up.

We're also getting a Jollibee (Filipino fast-food chicken) restaurant soon, near Landmark Mall. Up till now the only other Jollibee was in VA Beach and that place is always packed when we go down there for summer break.
Speaking of Landmark Mall - Wonder Woman 1984 was shot inside the mall for their mall scenes. I'm very familiar with the mall so it brought back some memories - the food court, Time Out arcade, the playground area by the escalators.

Yup, lots of development in the Eisenhower Valley. New Virginia Tech building and Metro Station coming to Potomac Yard. INOVA Hospital will move to and anchor a redeveloped Landmark Mall site by 2027. Exciting times in the Port City!

Corner of Beauregard and Little River Turnpike; used to be a Boston Market

Tangentially, I attribute the majority of my weight loss this year from not having steak dinners a few times every month at Ted's.
I do really miss the
Aldo's Italian Kitchen that was the only place within quick walking distance from the hotel. They had an
amazing lasagna.
