"Baked Alaska" gets two months
A far-right internet personality who goes by the pseudonym “Baked Alaska” was sentenced on Tuesday to two months in prison for unlawfully protesting inside the US Capitol during the January 6, 2021, insurrection.

Anthime Gionet, who livestreamed his breach of the Capitol in a nearly 30-minute video to more than 16,000 people, was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and $500 in restitution for damage done to the Capitol building by the mob the day of the riot.

“You livestreamed your criminal conduct to thousands of followers hoping they would pay you for your actions,” District Judge Trevor McFadden told Gionet during the nearly two-hour sentencing hearing. “You were promoting and celebrating what was a national tragedy.”

“January 6 was the culmination of a petty crime spree for you,” McFadden said, noting that Gionet was convicted of assaulting a restaurant worker and for tearing down a Hanukkah menorah outside the Arizona state capitol in the month before the insurrection.

“You repeatedly streamed your crimes” McFadden said. “That is a very troubling vocation, sir.”
Seems reasonable. I mean, it's not like he was carrying marijuana.

Four more convictions for Seditious Conspiracy.
Three members of the Oath Keepers and a fourth person associated with the far-right militia group were convicted of seditious conspiracy by a Washington, DC, jury on Monday for their role in the January 6, 2021, insurrection.

The four men – Roberto Minuta, Joseph Hackett, David Moerschel and Edward Vallejo – were accused of plotting to stop the certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral college victory, a conspiracy that culminated in the attack on the US Capitol.

The convictions are another win for the Justice Department who brought the rare charge against members of the far-right militia early last year. After a 10-week trial this fall, Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes as well as Kelly Meggs, a leader of the group in Florida, were the first of the group to be found guilty of seditious conspiracy.

I guess the thought by Fox and Tucker is that this demonstrates the 1/6 rioters couldn't have been guilty because they had a police escort? Instead I think it actually demonstrates quite a few police officers need to be charged.

It looks to me like they're just trying to get rid of him. He ended up somewhere in the bowels and they're trying to get him back with his kind. The fact that they don't arrest him doesn't mean they're giving him a tour. They may not want to expend the manpower to arest him and get him to to a lockup who knows where when they have hundreds of seditionists in the building.

Carlson is apewing his usual nonsense.

There is also little context there, just a few short cuts.

To my eyes that is not a tour. It looks like an escort. They appear to be making sure he doesn't get into any more trouble. My actual question is why there are officers just hanging around like that while a battle is going on outside?

Edit: I've also seen that a lot of folks are doing good work picking apart Carlson's cherry picking and intentionally deceptive framing of events. He also pushed the Big Lie as part of the narrative. In the end, this is shameless stuff. That they threw this together so quickly betrays what his plan might be which might be to generate a high volume low quality stream of packaged propaganda to water down 1/6.

This is always the plan, no need to wonder, and he certainly doesn’t try to hide it, bc he doesn’t need to:

“to generate a high volume low quality stream of packaged propaganda“

I applaud him, but it also saddens me that it takes staring death in the face for someone to speak truth like this (or maybe he was doing this before his diagnosis?). As mentioned, hopefully this inspires others to speak as boldly.

I was semi-watching one of the documentaries on 1/6 where they interview at length the CP officers involved, and I had to stop. It literally made me feel ill (and pretty sure spiked my blood pressure from rage).

One in particular was saying "I served two tours in Afghanistan, and literally BLED for our country, and these motherfuckers were spitting on me and calling me a traitor." (I'm paraphrasing, but very close to that). Just absolutely disgusts me every time I think about it.

He's been doing it (albeit perhaps a bit more diplomatically) as long as he's been on my radar.

Capitol police were not trained for that sort of assault. At least not for long. They were clearly abandoned.

If it’d been a Black Lives Matter protest the national guard would’ve been there in a flash. But they were not ordered in for sometime.

Once breached protocol is to prioritise the safety of the VIPs and failing that their own lives so they can live to fight back later.

Question is had the mob decided to start executing the democrats and electoral college members and “re-elected “ trump what would have happened? I shudder to think how close it was. Only luck and chance saved us which is why it’s so ghastly nothing has been done to the ringleaders. Seriously the response has been so slow at times it’s almost like the democrats and DoJ are in on all of this or just inept. I reckon garland must blame the democrats for not being a justice.

Best guess? He consumed a steady diet of right-wing media. Flynn is a another great example of this. He was a respected military theorist yet he is out there right now peddling QAnon fairy tales. Lots of us know otherwise smart people who believe really dumb stuff because their brains were melted by Rupert Murdoch and Rush Limbaugh (may he rest in flames).

My dad was a Lt Col in the USAF and I can totally buy that can happen. Lt Col is a middle manager in a bureaucracy, not something special.
