LTT just basically made the case that 4060 is actually outperformed by a 3080 or 3080ti at about the same price, and the only way to complain is to stop buying new and buy used.

Hasn't it always been the case that the XX60 was comparable to the previous generation's XX80s? They're the budget line - you get them for the new hardware features of that generation, not for that generation's performance.

I think LTT was basically trying to tell everybody to protest the ridiculous prices of 4080 and 4090.

I am shopping. for real this time.
looking specifically at the geforce RTX 4060 Ti

its well more than double the betterness than what I have now, Geforce RTX 2060

current pricing seems to be around $400 USD, possibly if I shop around or wait for prime day or whatever I could save some money.

it just seems that card prices have finally come down enough for me to be actually shopping, and thats pretty cool I think.

Yep. I think it’s time to change the thread title to something like ‘After five (four?) LONG years, 2023 is FINALLY a good year to upgrade one’s GPU’

Plan to keep that or sell it? Im on a gtx 970 4g..could use an upgrade if I can afford it. If you do sell it what would you want for it?

4060 Ti has one flaw. The memory bus is only 128 bit so the memory bandwidth which is 288 GB/s is actually lower than the memory bandwidth of 3060 Ti which is 448 GB/s because 3060 Ti has 256 bit memory bus.

In general 4060 Ti is still faster than 3060 Ti but slower in some applications for example switch emulation app which depend on memory bandwidth.

Maybe wait for 4060 Ti 16GB to see if that come with 256-bit bandwidth or not.

I found this comparison to be pretty informative - he looks at 3 competitors of the 4060TI.
