Drinking my beer tonight I notice the left side of my throat it tender or sensitive. Now my left ear feels sensitive. Hope Im not catching something. Last time I went anywhere was last week. I have to run to town tomorrow .

My muscles have started to try and cramp up bad in the last couple days again. Just bending my leg or bending my head down to kiss my dog in my lap will cause my neck to start to cramp. So far Ive been able to catch them before they turn into a full painful cramp. But it is pretty bad as all my muscles and ones I didn't know I had are now twinging. I know Im older. I know my diet sucks. I cant change either.

I also taste worcestershire and soy sauce. Not much soy..too salty and dont need another kidney stone....or worse high bloop pressure

Almost - it was right after Fallout 1.

But it is just a word for a gully/stream bed. A lot of places in the southwest use it.

I went to bed as normal thinking everything was fine but woke up at 2am feeling something was wrong. I went to piss and felt a semi shock feeling coming on..I thought my BP was super low and headed to the kitchen to eat some salt and drink some fluid but stopped to take my bp first. As it was running I could feel the pressure building in my head and little pops of it increasing..wasm't low..was high. Like 160/102. Good thing I stopped to take it first. I went right and took a full regular dose of all my bp meds..chewed them first then drank them down. Within 5 min it was 125/85 and I went back to sleep. I admit that was frightening.

Tomorrow I get sliced and diced. I never got a letter prepping me for the operation. Just know it's in the VA somewhere.
I am a little nervous about what happen afterwards. Am I going to be able to get out of bed by myself? Will I be able to take care of myself for a few days? I stocked up on TV dinners. I have my wife's motorized wheelchair. Must remember to keep the phone handy.

I went home a couple hours after my gall bladder was removed. Of course I was younger then. You will be sore, kind of tight around the belly but nothing terrible. No sit ups for awhile. You should have no trouble walking but getting up out of bed may be uncomfortable for a day or two.

I assume you are having it done laparoscopically, which makes it much less intrusive. The old days of slicing you open only applies if there is a problem.

What to know about gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy)

Gallbladder surgery recovery

The recovery process following a cholecystectomy varies depending on the type of surgery.

In all cases, a medical team will provide aftercare instructions on taking care of the wound and watching out for infection. It is essential not to take a shower for 1 or 2 days following surgery.

Recovery from laparoscopic surgery

After a laparoscopic procedure, most people can leave the hospital on the same day as the surgery. However, a friend or family member will need to drive the individual home after surgery or accompany them in a taxi.

It is also important to rest and avoid strenuous activities for up to 2 weeks, but a person should be able to return to normal activities after this time.

Recovery from open surgery

Recovery from open surgery takes longer. A person can expect to stay in the hospital for 3–5 days after their operation. Hospitals require someone to pick up the individual to drive them home or take a taxi with them.

It can take 6–8 weeks to make a complete recovery from open surgery and return to normal activities.

My wife had her gall bladder removed in an open surgery in 1984 (funny, I don't even remember it

) and was in the hospital for two days afterwards. But as Scuzz says, likely it will be laparoscopically done, so unless there are complications you'll be able to go home the same day.

When I had my prostate removed robotically (which was essentially by laparoscopy with remotely operated tools) I went home the next morning, the delay really just to confirm that the sutures in my urethra were holding. Probably the biggest limitations will be on how much you can lift (I was restricted to five pounds for four weeks, which didn't happen

) and keeping the incision area clean and not getting it wet. Oddly, I was allowed to take a shower the day I went home as long as I didn't let the water spray directly on my six(!) incisions.

Just got a call this morning. Doctor has an emergency and they need to reschedule my appointment. So I asked " If i said no would it make a difference?" So all my anxiety for this morning and the last week for nothing.

OK here's a weird one. Every year during the dry season, as with many folks, my lips love to dry out, crack, and bleed. All year round I use "regular" lip balm, but in the winter I go high-test with the more expensive (but still OTC) "medicated" stuff.

It tends to work, but at the corners of my lower lip I feel like the "lip skin" starts to grow over the "skin skin". I don't like the feeling of this weird skin, so I pick at it and cause damage to the "normal location" lip skin above. WTF is going on here; is the heavy-duty lip ointment putting lip skin growth into overdrive? How do I stop this while still protecting my lip lips?

Sometimes one of my fingers gets "stuck" and I can't bend it. I have to use my other hand to manually bend it.

Bah humbug. My bloodpressure monitor broke just now. It wont hold air. Right when I needed it and in the middle of a holiday time. Have to find a replacement soon.

That condition is called "trigger finger". I had that a few years ago on my left ring finger. Got a cortisone shot, then had to wear a brace on it for a month. Two days after the brace came up it started locking again. The next step is laparoscopic surgery where they manually flex the nerve to widen the sheath. I put it off...and months later, it just went away. Finally the joint shrunk enough to put my ring back on that hand.

I cant find a replacement cuff for my bp monitor anywhere online. Least not for the name brand of Joytech. Also dont see a generic one that would work. This one has a tapered end where you plug the hose into the monitor. So a squared off one wouldn't fit Im afraid. Cant waste money trying. Looks like Ill have to wait until Jan and just buy another cheap one.

Got thru my surgery yesterday. Just a little sore but I can get around fine. They gave me some hydrocodone but I don't need it. I'll save it for when my back goes out.
