Lucky for them they had an extended season so they could fit this accomplishment in!

Kadri doing Kadri things didn't help. Nor did the length of his suspension.

It'd be fun to see what the Avs could do in the post-season with a full roster, but that's the funny thing about the post-season. Nobody gets a full roster (without a lot of luck). It's the deeper teams that have a better shot at the Cup as opposed to top-heavy squads. After the first round of the playoffs this year, there was exactly one player remaining who had a >$10M yearly contract—and he was the netminder for the Montreal Canadiens, Carey Price. Teams with exemplary standout lines (Edmonton, Boston, Colorado) did not get past the second round. It's not that these teams couldn't win the Cup (Vegas didn't give infinite odds for any of these teams to win the championship, after all) it's that it's exceedingly tough for it to happen.

If the Lightning manage two cups in 9 1/2 months, I'll be blown away.

Spoiler:
Helmet ads are here to stay, it’s likely the first step on the path to ads on NHL jerseys and team executives are very excited about that

Isn't the real question "How could Vegas lose even with the referees doing everything in their power to ensure a win?"

Matiss Kivlenieks, a goaltender for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League, died Sunday night after an accident involving fireworks at a party, according to authorities in Novi, Michigan.

Kivlenieks, 24, died from a fireworks mortar blast and chest trauma, according to Inspector Mitch Brown of the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office.

The death was ruled accidental after a full autopsy was conducted by the Oakland County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Ljubisa Dragovic, Brown said.

Novi Police Department Lt. Jason Meier told CNN that the chest injury from the fireworks resulted in internal injuries.
Earlier on Monday, Meier had said there seemed to be a malfunction that sent the fireworks in the direction of people. Kivlenieks and others were in a hot tub and when they tried to get out, Kivlenieks slipped, fell, and hit his head on the concrete, Meier had said.
