Polygon
Apple’s streaming service — the appropriately named Apple TV Plus — will reportedly launch in November for $9.99. This is the same window in which Disney’s upcoming Disney Plus service is set to launch.

Bloomberg reported that Apple TV Plus will start off with a small selection of shows and movies, before slowly expanding its catalogue. A free trial version is possible, said the anonymous sources.
...
Apple plans to launch a wide variety of shows including The Morning Show, a dramedy about the fast-paced, high-stakes world of morning talk shows, starring Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, and Reese Witherspoon. Also in the lineup are a sci-fi dystopian thriller starring Jason Momoa, a series about a world where the USSR beat the US to the moon, a Sesame Street spin-off called Helpsters, and a coming-of-age comedy about the life of Emily Dickinson.

Ummmm, even as a dedicated Apple fan, so far it's a pass. Since I'm such an Apple whore though, this is subject to change.

And a comedy no less. About the life of a recluse.

Jason Momoa's character should count his blessings that he's blind and won't be able to watch that godawful Emily Dickinson show.

LMAO!!!!!!!!

Honestly I wasn't the least bit impressed with the rollout, except for the price. Even then I'm not sure I would have gone for it, and I've tried pretty much all the recent streaming services. They are smart to give out the year free, gives them enough time to come up with something that might hook people like me.

Yeah we're an Apple family yet I have zero interest in AppleTV+

It's all about the content. All it took was the Mandalorian trailer (and a bunch of other content I want to see) for me to jump at the three year discounted subscription to Disney+. $4.99 is a great price but I'm still not paying it if there's nothing I want to watch.

Unlike Netflix, it won't release full seasons of its shows all at once in a binge-able bunch. "Most" Apple TV Plus series will premiere three episodes followed by one new episode every week, Apple says; full seasons of "some" series will drop all at the same time, though.

Apple TV Plus will also reside inside Apple's TV app. There, Apple TV Plus will sit next to other video subscriptions such as HBO or Starz.
...
After launch, Apple said five additional titles would be added in following months:
  • Servant, a thriller from Sixth Sense director M. Night Shyamalan
  • Truth Be Told, a mystery drama starring Octavia Spencer and Aaron Paul
  • Little America, from the husband-and-wife screenwriting team of Kumail Nanjiani (you may know him as Dinesh on HBO's Silicon Valley) and Emily V. Gordon
  • The Banker, a true-story movie starring Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson
  • Hala, a movie produced by Jada Pinkett Smith that Apple picked up at Sundance
But the release plans for other Apple originals remain unclear. We still don't know when we'll be seeing shows like: Mythic Quest, a comedy from Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day, who created and starred in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia; Amazing Stories, an anthology series from Steven Spielberg; and Central Park, a cartoon musical from the creator of Bob's Burgers and packed with the voices of stars like Frozen's Josh Gad and Kristen Bell and Hamilton's Leslie Odom Jr. and Daveed Diggs.

I got a year of this buying a new ipad and I have no desire to watch it. I guess free is free, but not one of their original shows look interesting....Even Emily Dickinson.

Sight was taken from all humans yet somehow they survived and even split into tribes? That is so far fetched as to make the show have no appeal to me.

Well I've now watching the following:

Morning Show. Much better than expected. Writing was ok, acting was just fantastic. Billy Crudup stole the show I thought. It could have been called the Matt Lauer story even though it was supposedly written before the scandal.

For All Mankind. Ronald D. Moore gets a watch because of his track record. Really enjoyed this "What If" the space race continued into the 70s. Will watch the final episode tonight, but it is really well done and a must watch for fans of the Apollo space program.

Mythic Quest. Only a few episodes in, but it hits the gaming/MMO nerd in me so it gets extra points for that. The comedy is funny and self aware, but you can tell Apple's PC culture is watching. It may have actors from Sunny and Community, but it is not nearly as risky.

Think that's it for now. No interest in See. Open to any other suggestions.

I've got a free year of this I've got to remember to activate.

I keep pushing it to the end of the offer in the hopes something will be worth watching.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned in another thread, but Ted Lasso is pretty good. A very sort of laid back, feel good comedy that hits all the right notes.

I enjoyed Central Park - it's not as good as it should be considering the cast (Kristin Bell, Daveed Diggs, Leslie Odom) but it's worth it just for Stanley Tucci as a rich old lady. He seems like the only voice actor that really enjoyed their role.

Just finished watching the first season, and I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t so much an over the top ridiculous show which is what I expected, it’s just kinda funny (and I mean that as a compliment).

With some very unexpected moments of getting hit in the feels.

So I’m trying out the year you get with apple devices and for the most part, I’m glad it’s free because I wouldn’t pay foe the content they’re offering....with two big exceptions.

The aforementioned Ted Lasso is a gem. Funny but without being cynical. That’s tough to pull off. The entire cast is just pitch perfect. Can’t wait for season 2.

The other one I love is Mythic Quest. It’s some of the folks from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Namely Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney (who also stars). Rob’s character is Ian (pronounced like ion), the creator of the world’s most played MMORPG. it also has Danny Puddi from Community, so it definitely has a good cast. I’ve laughed at quite a few of the jokes, but they’re definitely geared towards people who play video games.

I finally got coerced into watching Ted Lasso, I don't know why I was resistant. But I LOVED it!

Now just started The Morning Show, which I also resisted, and also very very good.

Finished Mosquito Coast, which I personally enjoyed but not sure how much other people would like it. The daughter in the show is played by Logan Polish (she does a great job IMHO, as does the entire core cast), who turns out is my brother-in-law's sister's grand-daughter (or something like that lol).

Just started Lisey's Story, kind of weird for my taste but I'm still willing to see where it goes.

When they started, I really felt like Apple TV+ was going to be way too pretentious for me, but they are winning me over show by show. Also excited to see Foundation later this year.

This looks fun too:

So it’s Castaway…but now Wilson CAN do what Tom’s character created him for?
