The howling had split the night air costing everyone a sound nights sleep. It got worse when what had started out as a lonely single call was joined by a second in the darkest hour of the night. The villagers lay trembling in their beds praying the light of day would prove this simply another frontier nightmare. With the first rays of the sun they rose from their beds and moved slowly into the village square. The prints they found there were larger than any wolf they had ever seen and the signs of a struggle by the well included some blood splashes on the stone. Someone had been attacked in the night. With no corpse and the size of the paws there could be only one explanation, a werewolf was in their midst and had passed its vile curse onto another.

It is day.
