beginning a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. It covers not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant. We'll closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences.

That makes me very happy. But I also worry with the engine change and the burn out on making the same game again. I hope for the best. I doubt I could run it right anyways with a 2700K and 970.

Waiting for the inevitable complaints about likely exclusivity.

And they could find ways to change it up. There are more people than Geralt in that universe. Some of them aren't even witchers.

Those are just assumed now, we don't have to type them out. Besides, we've been reminded that timed exclusivity may be a good thing for CDPR games. :P Now if it's forever exclusivity...

I always buy my CDPR games on GOG, and I can't see them not releasing on their own platform, so I'm solidly in the "Meh..." camp when it comes to any sort of exclusive deal with Epic.

We are not planning on making the game exclusive to one storefront.

There's a lot going on in the world of the Witcher that could fill a MMO but I hope that's not the direction it goes only because it's not my thing. But if done well I could see the appeal (but my Geralt will sit it out, killing the occasional stray monster that wanders onto his vineyards while sipping wine on the veranda and watching the sunset with Triss)

Agreed. I would be thrilled with just an Unreal 5 engine Witcher game that plays a lot like Witcher 3.

Remember that dev rumor of a thing that players would find much later? Also recall when Geralt lifted the curse on the bird cursed girl with an egg he told her she would probably only live 7 years? Turns out true.

Just saw the following update - looking forward to playing through this again!

The Witcher 3’s next-gen patch will arrive on December 14th / The oft-delayed update for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X / S consoles will finally show up in a month. If you already own the base game, it’ll be a free upgrade.

I've been thinking about giving it another shot. Hopefully the mod that slows down leveling (so that more thorough players like me don't become godlike early in the game, rendering it too easy) is updated before then. Of course, I plan on playing after giving the current books a read (I read the first couple probably 15 years ago), and I've still got a significant chunk of the Wheel of Time to work my way through before starting that, so I've probably got time. ;)

I gave it a good shot on PC several months ago but ultimately quit again. I think I could actually finish it on PS5 though - that console has been some kind of magic wonder machine that enables me to finish long games.

It is amazing. I finished it a year ago nearly and I still bring up YouTube videos of the music to play just to relax to. The music and setting...just perfect.

To get you interested here are 10 things I totally missed on my play through and Im pretty good at going everywhere and doing everything.

Dont watch unless you want to be spoiled. Nothing to do with the main quest..just neat stuff.

It's because you can just load it up quickly lay back and play. At least that's the magic it holds for me. No tweaking settings... Just grab the controller and go. If I have an option to play a game on PC or the Console I'm picking console pretty much every time. Unless it's a FPS..

It's really strange - I looked over all the announcements for the next-gen version but for the life cannot find any information about the point that is the most important for me (and must be for many other people):

Will the next-gen version (for me, on PS5) be able to load the save games of the current-gen version? (for me, on PS4)? Has anyone seen any information about that?

I spent many hours in W3 on PS4 (I just finished Skellige) and would love to continue playing with the next-gen version. There is next to zero chance that I'll restart the game on next-gen again.

Thanks, but I’m pretty sure this is about plying the PS4 version on a PS5, not the upcoming next-gen PS5 version

So, to be clear then, you're wondering whether a save created on the original PS4 version of the game will work on the PS5 version after the next-gen update?

I don't think that's been officially stated yet, so the only official answer is 'maybe.' But it seems likely (no guarantees), given that this seems to be an update to the engine rather than a complete rewrite of the code.

There's supposed to be gameplay improvements too, so I wouldn't say it's a given it will work. I'm starting from scratch again myself and can't wait.

Ditto here, I haven't played since I finished Blood and Wine when it was first released. So it will be like a new game for me.

Basically, yes (I’m already playing the PS4 version on my PS5 in compatibility mode, so the save game is already on the PS5)

I agree that I think it’s quite possible that it works (also because CD Red made cross-platform saves work between the Switch and PC version, which shows some creativity on that end) but since the next-gen version will also contain some additional content, it may be more difficult than I think

Oh, that's somewhat disappointing if it's only gear-related. I thought it'd be something like a unique questline that directly relates events from the show.
