If it's a video game it goes here.

Thinking about it, it's one of those genres that you really have to look backwards to find much of. Go back a few years and you can play the orginal Medal of Honor, the first few Call of Duty games (which were fantastic before they became an MP twitcher), Hidden & Dangerous 2, and all sorts of others.

Battlefield 5 (campaign)
I remember playing a bunch of the war stories but not all of them. I hit a point where I just burnt out on them I think.
Call of Duty WWII
Steam says I played this in 2020. I remember it sorta.
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (a little older)
Could swear I played it and remember a bit of it but Steam isn't showing anything for it. it does that though if its old which this is. It is showing the other one though Earned in Blood as being played in 2012.. Shrug.

Ok, well...yeah, that's going to be tough. Not WW2 but I was really surprised at how much I also enjoyed Battlefield 1 (the WW1 themed game).

I used to but dont now days.

i used to live for Red Orchestra but the more they slanted to the real side the less I could tell enemies from friends. So Id end up dead all the time and never know who killed me or Id end up shooting everyone hoping to get the right side.

Yeah, it looks interesting. I hope that 'survival' is meant to indicate logistics, and not 'bitterly difficult.' Too many TBS games lately have mistaken difficulty for depth.

I briefly considered culling the list to just the FPS titles, but when I checked my GAFF tank I was running on empty. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The things is, I've always enjoyed the CoD campaigns, but they're short, and the price is always charged for the multiplayer. Asking people to pay $40 for a decade-old campaign that lasts four hours is nuts, and it's the reason why I haven't played most of them.

Has anyone else played Cyberpunkdreams? Free to play cyberpunk (obviously!) story based game similar to Fallen London. I played a little bit last year but dropped it when OOTP started taking up my morning game before breakfast time but this year I'm skipping OOTP baseball so I'm back in the Cinci slums.

Here is another upcoming game that caught my eye today. It's a tank sim that seems to be trying to strike a balance between realism and fun. I wish them luck with that. There's a demo available on Steam if you want to check it out, and there seem to be quite a few gameplay videos up on Youtube.

Im bored. Outside its an oven and too hot for anything. I came to the end of my SWTOR run last night. I literally ran out of anything to do at the end. The stuff that was there was not working and it all felt like it was made by some kid in his basement and not by a big developer. I canceled and deleted the game even though it just charged me for the entire month a week ago. I could lvl another but meh. Want something else. I never found a good WW2 shooter to bother with. I thought about Division 2 Wildlands, or Breakpoint but kinda meh on everything. Not sure what to install and even try. I would love Far Cry 6 but no money right now. Im out for the entire month again.

So meh. Meh meh meh meh meh.

If you browse through the games featured in the Steam Next Fest, there are a lot of titles with demos. They're not full games, but they're new and they're free, which ain't all bad.

I've tried a few of the demos, but I have to remind myself that while playing one might encourage me about a game, often the released game won't match my expectations, good or bad, from what I saw in the demo.

Which brings up an interesting question for the group, who can remember a game whose demo got you all excited about it, but were disappointed in the final release?

It's been so long since I relied on demos that nothing comes to mind in terms of liking a demo and not liking the actual game.

I was suggesting the flood of demos on Steam this week more as a way for Daehawk to find a free distraction from boredom than as a way to pick out games to buy.

I think I've installed 3 Next Fest demos so far (Gunner, HEAT, PC; Terra Invicta; Destroy All Humans 2), so I'll try to be mindful of whether the demo impresses me and if so, whether the full game delivers on the promise if I end up purchasing any of them.

yep. Shareware and demos were huge in the 90s until the internet made it easy to download whatever demo or patch you were looking for. I used to look forward to those disks every month on the front of a magazine. Fun times.

I always thought demos would hurt sales. If you weren't sure than the demo would make your mind up not to get it. I always had an idea of what the game was and how it played, if the demo didn't follow my expectations than out it goes.
