Re: Friday Timewaster
I'm just below 9, whether I touch type or not. It's weird because I type at a good 70 WPM, but I never fully learned to touch type. I'm constantly glancing down at the keyboard for verification and to adjust my position, but functionally I don't need to look.
The timeline game is a lot of fun and some guessing doesn't undermine the game, but man there are some cards you're just not going to have an idea about without a very specific history degree. It feels good when you get an answer right from context though.

If I can fat finger, I get in around 7
If I make sure I don't typo, it's around 11

I keep instinctively hitting enter after I finish.
If I close my eyes, I can get to 6 seconds.

After a few practice rounds, I got it to 5.060. I kept stumbling around WXYZ. My left pinky and ring finger did not want to cooperate.

and I feel I was slow, it's not natural for me to type the alphabet in a row. I can be a spaz on the keyboard though, PTSD from my days as a network engineer when I pushed the wrong ACL to a core router.

5.491 when I looked at the keyboard and touch typed rather than stare at the screen and touch type. Think I might be able to shave a bit more off with a few more tries.stessier wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 1:59 pm https://typethealphabet.app/
See how fast you can type the alphabet.
6.938s is my current record.

Yeah, that's pretty trippy. I don't know if I could find a couple people to put up with all that.stessier wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:00 pm I have to find some people to try playing this with.

6 seconds, 92%. I've gotten awful.
/edit - I pulled 60 WPM on one of their non-alphabet tests, which isn't as fast as I used to be, but isn't as awful as I'd feared. It was really weird taking a typing test where I was expected to actually use backspace. I think the last time I took a typing test was on an IBM Selectric.

4 seconds. I can't seem to find how to display hundredths of a second, but I tried their minute challenge and boy was that a mistake.

This has become an everyday timewaster for me:

Each day, there are five trivia questions covering anything and everything under the sun. You get up to three clues for each question, with more points for using the fewest number of clues. It's just a really solid and engaging little trivia quiz.

That pretty interesting...some obscure clues, but they do a pretty good job of nudging you toward the right answer.
