Samsung 912N LCD monitor - good buy?

Post by The Mad Hatter »

I'm looking to finally join the LCD monitor age. This is the best one I've found so far with price taken into consideration. It's selling for $599 Cdn ($500 US) locally, and I haven't found any negative reviews online, though there's not much to go on. Is there any reason I shouldn't buy this particular one?

These are the specs:

Monitor Type - Flat Panel LCD TFT (Active Matrix)

Size - 19 in.

Aspect Ratio - 4:3

Contrast Ratio - 800:1

Brightness - 260 cd/m²

Response Time - 25 ms

Dot Pitch - .294 mm

Max. Resolution - 1280 x 1024

Color Depth - 24-bit (16.7M Colors)

Viewable Picture Size - 19 in.

If you are fast, Dell Canada currently has a 19 inch LCD on sale for $399 Canadian. It has a 16ms response time. It's a one day sale though, and probably limited quantity. No DVI input though, so if that is critical, I guess this would be a no go. :)

But I don't have much in the way of info about the Samsung, sorry. :)

Sweet! That's a $200 savings, which I can use to buy a 6600GT video card. I just put the order in now, after checking into the DVI thing (found mixed reviews, but oh well). I'll be going from an old Samsung crt monitor and Geforce 4200 graphics card to a new Dell 19 inch LCD and a 6600GT video card. That is awesome...much thanks for letting me know about that deal.

MH you should be a lot happier with the faster response time as a gamer. I recently got a Dell 2001FP 20" LCD with a similar response time and have yet to notice any ghosting while gaming. Congrats!
