Smooth Wall firewall/router

Post by crumsteel »

I have an extra computer and was thinking about trying smooth wall. Does anyone have any experience with it? Currently I am using a siemens router and thought I might get more options/features with smooth wall.

Considering my misadventures with D-Link I would be interested to hear about other brands as well...

I'm missing the hardware/router connection. Looks like a software firewall to me.

hopefully I understand correct.

You use a pc with 2 nic's that is dedicated to being your router/firewall. It is software, but so is you linksys router without the hardware provided.

Ahh, I see.

So you turn one PC into a router, basically. Cool.
