There are folks with great twitch reflexes that can get those headshots that make the difference.

Accurate aiming while jumping/sliding is a huge advantage. If you want to see what someone did, you can go into the Replays and watch it from your perspective or their perspective. It can be very enlightening.

I will say I feel like most people tend to overdo it with the jumping in combat. Generally when I'm in close quarters combat people jump like crazy while I don't, and from my experience that usually works out better for me, as for most people they wind up hurting their shooting accuracy more than they hurt mine.

Also, one other amusing thing that happened the other day is that I sniped someone and killed them at the exact same moment that someone else sniped and killed me. So I shot him and eliminated him but also died at the exact moment as well - took me a minute to process what exactly happened.

Practice makes perfect. While they are still learning, it's true, they lose accuracy. Once you figure it out, though, if your opponent is standing still, they're toast.

Jumped on with my daughters and we made short work of Vader. Concentrated fire on the storm troopers and then spread out so Vader couldn't go after more than one of us at a time. Then just plinked away at him. Surprisingly easy with 3 people.

Edit: Just played a solo match where my only elimination was the final one that got me the victory. Didn't even shoot my gun before the final battle (which was only 3 shotgun blasts). Amusing (and I'm sure frustrating for the other guy).

What did you get off Vader? Do you get a melee lightsaber or something? Or a force pull.

You get his lightsaber for that battle only. Bigger for me was the ability to complete a Quest.

I can't remember if it's been mentioned in our discussion - but the absolute best tip for an over-the-hill Fortnite player like me? Turn on the "Visualize Sound Effects" under the Settings menu. Then, it will overlay small white icons on your screen when certain things happen like a chest is near, or the tornado is nearby. But the most useful/cheesy part is that if a player is close, there will be two footstep icons. It's my go-to danger alarm while playing. I'll often see the feet before hearing the audio of the player running by, or seeing him coming around the corner. It's invaluable for a poor player like me.

Of course, if you want to thwart this tip so others can't use it against you, get the hang of crouch/crawl when you get into combat etc. Then your movement doesn't make noise and set off the Visual Indicator and you can effectively sneak around your opponent.

Yeah, cheesy, but I need all the help I can get in games like this!

I didn't know that aid was available. I play with headphones specifically so I can listen for the footsteps.

I played 33 matches yesterday and won 4 - right around 12% win rate. I'm pleased with my progress.

I've used a rift and accidentally sailed through it. My daughters say they have gotten tossed in the air by it. None of us were injured. Getting hit by the stuff it throws around will definitely damage you though.

One game this weekend I won with only eliminating one person - the last one. Fired a total of 3 shots in the whole game - all at the last person and only 2 hit. Didn't try to do that, it just happened. I think I ran over 3km in that game and never saw a soul until the end. Very odd.

The Dragon Ball Z additions are interesting. The Kamehamehas are an interesting mechanic - deadly if you don't see it coming, but easily defeated (if scary) if they try to get it off while you're staring at them. The Nimbus Cloud is a great way to escape any bad situation. I managed to get the glider after collecting dragon balls 6 & 7 this weekend. Interested to see what they will do next.

Yeah, it's pretty interesting stuff. One other good use for the Kamehamehas is if they try to bunker down with building stuff when you attack. You just blast their new structure and it's hard for them to get out in time (especially if they built a roof).

You can. I find it kind of hard to aim after I start the firing process because my character icon is essentially in the way of the targeting, but you can adjust the firing point.

I got the dragon glider as well (which is probably the coolest glider that I have at this point). Though honestly it's partly that I'm weirdly addicted to completing quests - I find it's a little more entertaining to be doing quests while on the outlook for people rather than just wandering around randomly waiting to bump into people.

They had to be standing in that storm for at least 5 min...they never came inside the circle..ffW$%43w#$^$@#%^@$%

If you go to the Battle Pass tab, there are three things you can buy for every 10 levels you've gained up to 90 levels. If you were subscribed to the Battle Pass, there would be much more to buy. Some of the things include V-bucks. It looks like over 2-3 seasons, you could earn enough V-bucks to subscribe to the Battle Pass for one season. After that, I think you could earn enough V-bucks to continue subscribing every season after that.

Congrats! I was wondering if that would work - was afraid his saber might be able to block it or he could force pull me and break the blast sequence.

Nope! Worked like a charm. There was some combat with random people shortly before it, so I'm not 100% sure whether he was at full health or not, but either way, he definitely didn't block it or anything.

I played 61 games between Sat and Sun and didn't get a single win. I was second 13 times and in the top ten 35 times. Just dumb bad luck in some cases, really unfortunate aim in others. Frustrating though.

Then Monday I played 19 games and won 4 times. Have to say, much more fun when you're not always the bridesmaid.

Yeah, the Chrome stuff is confusing, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of things within a couple of days.

I played a few rounds this morning with my son. Wow - I hate the level/bracket of players in his queue of matchmaking. They're so much better than the bots and idiots that I normally go against in solo. VERY frustrating watching them swoop in and destroy me before we can barely react. All the worst in PvP/shooters that I generally try to avoid.

I only tried the new Halloween content once so far and accidentally jumped into a Duo game as a Single. Didn't even realize it at the time until the team the eliminated me clearly showed up to take me out as a team. :D Had the claws ready to go, but no chance against 2 of them. Still managed to come in third though.

This was last night. Im having a lot of fun trying stuff just for fun that normally I wouldn't do. Im not really trying to win but try all the weirdness out there or things I dont know what they are or do. Sometimes I kill myself on accident and have to find a new match lol. Always something different out there. The other night I was content to sit in my truck and listen to the radio blastin to end it all but the 2nd place guy decided to start shooting my ride with me in it so had to jump out and win.

Does anyone play on console with another person in their household? I've been playing Fortnite with my son on my XBox One for awhile. Only maybe a couple weeks ago it started crashing whenever I try to join a party with him to play. Basically I log into my XBox Live account, press the button to have "P2" join the party, it starts to load...and then it freezes and crashes. Every time recently.

Any idea what might be causing it? Fortnite otherwise is still working as normal for single player or for playing with other people online, it's just playing on the same console which has stopped working. Which means that my son and I can't play Fortnite together, which is annoying.

I got this new win thing tonight...a Royale Victory....Im not sure if its due to the count of 1st places ive gotten over time or because I got two 1st place finishes in a row on two maps. Bit it gave me a special win screen and a new Royale emote where I glow gold and hold a pillow in one hand with a gold crown on it. Ill try to get an in game shot of that.

Ill see if I can get a shot of the emote.

Ah here it is..its all animated of course in game me showing off my crown lol..funny

Two wins in a row.

OR - take out a winner, take his/her crown and win. I think that'll up your pillow count too.

Don't get too caught up in it though. When it was introduced a couple of seasons back, players (of course) found ways to work the system and artificially inflate their win counts to insane amounts. Also - it will reset each season.

It'd be fun to taunt my son, but he always has a higher total than me. :D
