The only speeding ticket I ever got was in a North Carolina town where I came off I-85 (65 mph) onto an exit which dropped to 25 mph immediately. The exit was a long straight run, not a curve, and it even led into its own lane. But there was a perfectly placed billboard that allowed a hidden cop to hit you with radar while--even if you were carefully braking down from highway speed--you were still going about 50.

I've only ever had two speeding tickets. Both were in speed traps. The first one was in Newago, MI, where the highway into town curves down a steep hill. At the bottom of the hill the speed limit falls from 55 to 30, and that's where the prowler hides.

I was driving with my dad while I was still on my learner's permit and I thought it meant I would never get a license. To make sure I learned a lesson, dad made me appear in court in Newago to pay the ticket in person. I thought I would have to appear before a judge in full regalia. Instead I met a clerk who was amused that some kid drove all the way up from Grand Rapids to pay a ticket. The lesson I learned was that my dad was being a dick.

That's hilarious, especially because my younger kid is getting his Learner's next month.

When I got my first (and only) ticket right after I started driving, I was scared to death. I thought "going to court" meant I would be on trial, being cross-examined by a Perry Mason-esque lawyer while a sneering cop pointed his finger at me. To my naive brain, I was only one step above a felon.

When I got to court and saw 100 bored people in line just paying fines, I realized how dumb I was. It was all just a moneymaking racket.

I'm glad I got that ticket, because it opened my eyes to what the system really was.

I've only had one other close call - cop pulled me in a small town while I was up near Charlotte having evacuated for Hurricane Florence. He let me off with a warning when I told him where I was from, because at the time my town was completely cut off by flood waters. First time a hurricane has ever gotten me out of a speeding ticket!

I guess I don't really get what was weird/funny/worth sharing in this picture... Am I missing something?

Is the entire joke that they have an extra L in English?

I mean, to me, the joke is that an English Breakfast sucks so much that there really isn't anyone that want's it available all day - but I'm sure that's not it.

I assumed it was a play on "Golden Gril" = "Golden Girl".

It looks like the missing L is ... I think maybe a chicken leg? It looks like that a roasted chicken might be their logo. And they use a leg sticking up as the first L. And then someone blacked out the entire chicken using photoshop. Though I suppose it's possible it's real and the chicken fell off the sign, leaving that dark area where it had been.

I love an english breakfast. Not so much the blood sausage though.

Great setup, but I think they botched the punchline. Better would have been if the real wife just knifed herself.

I meant it more as a reflection of me not how comprehensible the joke was.
