Good game guys.

I think this game particularly, I've become aware of how useful it is to cycle more cards into your hand even if you can't play them.

Yeah, it's important to be able to cycle through your deck, which can be done through a combination of card drawing and trashing lesser cards. And drawing more cards means more influence which means better cards (and Spice Must Flow VPs). Part of what's great about the Bene Gesserit "selective breeding" space (if you have the spice) is that it does both for you.

In hindsight in the second half of the game I should have mostly ignored combat and focused on buying "the spice must flow" and promptly trashing it.

I have never thought about the "trashing Spice must flow" strategy. That is interesting, but be careful - I had an card that gave me an extra VP if I had the most Spice Must Flow in my deck at the end.
