Las Vegas has a $2.3 Billion Mega Sphere and its way cool

Post by Daehawk »

Man that thing is awesome. Wonder if one day they will build a full sphere? That inside theater experience must be awesome with the beam forming sound system. Imagine sitting there watching a movie all around you and hearing it in English but the people next to you and over hear Spanish and the ones on your other side hear French or something.

Now I might go to Las Vegas to see that. I'm not a gambler so Vegas never really interested me even with the other stuff that is not gambling related.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

It was killer, you should go!

We mostly skipped the android demos in the lobby, there were too many people clustered around them. Plus, I swear I heard one of them take a tone in its voice when a human didn't respond loudly enough to the android's question. I'm not getting in vision range of a pissed off robot, that's how you get Terminators!

A lot of people have pointed out that the message of the movie is laid on a bit thick. The message is "Humans are bad for the Earth and we are killing her". It is ironic to be sitting in a giant technological marvel that cost $2.3 billion and receiving that message.

The sound was majestic, the best I've ever heard. Of course the seats moved but the best was the wind effects. Not just puffs of air in your face but actual wind currents went from side to side throughout the arena. And there were scents in some scenes.

It is steep as fuck in the seating area and I wonder how many Phish fans had trouble navigating while they were (presumably) tripping balls at the 4-20 shows.

We said we would do it again but I wouldn't pay as much as I did for tix again. They weren't bad, about $190 for two, but it wouldn't be as novel an experience a second time. Hopefully they produce new shows for it soon, we are going back to Vegas again later in the year.
