I had no idea they are a still a going concern and are still making modems (among other things).
Are modems still a thing?

They built a cool corporate center in the Chicago suburbs. Then suddenly the screech fell out of fashion, and 3-Com took over the building. Then 3-Com sucked at competing with Cisco...I think the building is a halfway house for alcoholic pigeons now.

Apparently they're still enough of a thing that USR continues to make them. According to their website, they're commonly used for point-of-sale applications, among other things.

Zyxel is still around too, although they make networking hardware rather than modems now.

The Sensaphones we used to monitor data centers had built-in modems, and there was the occasional USR modem connected to a piece of networking hardware.

June Lockhart is 98.

I know this because I looked her up after seeing her in an episode of Babylon 5 from 30 years ago. She didn't have any scenes with Bill Mumy, but I was tickled that they were both in the episode.

It doesn't work if you don't use the name. At least I hope you didn't just kill every 77 year old male in Florida.

They are referring to a specific person that lives in Florida. A.k.a. "TFG"

Everyone is trying to avoid using his "real" name. Personally I think TFG is more appropriate. Though I don't use "Florida" for the "F".

Edit: Actually... I don't know. Unagi did use his name. And I have no idea who BH is referring to. So... I guess carry on.

I get it, but I just felt our euphemisms are getting a but unruly, but there I go being all pedantic and OO'ish about something silly like misplacing the article "A" in front of a phrase that EVERY GOD-FEARING OO'ER KNOWS DAMN WELL DOES NOT CONTAIN AN ARTICLE!!!!!!R$@211311!!

I found the usage (A Florida man) odd, so I made an Arya Stark joke out of it.

Which I've now had to explain.

Which means it was a bad joke.

Which means that I'm unworthy and an inferior human being. I shall lie in traffic until the problem is resolved.

If I may shine a little light on what transpired.

BH was teasing Jaymann. No one calls Trump "A Florida Man"... but I know how BH's mind works. He heard that phrase in the way the GoT said "A man has no name"

My bad, I should have quoted Jaymann, to whom my post was directed.

And FWIW I got your reference..one of my favorite storylines from the books (not so much the series).

I thought I was the last to watch it. I put it off forever, and finally saw it last year. It's worth the watch if only to keep yourself aware of what half the country throws around as 'common knowledge'. Winter is coming, so don't wait too long.
