[Apple TV] Silo - based on Wool books

Post by coopasonic »

I read these books at some point in the history of the universe (amazon says 2012) and I just found out about the show. I haven't jumped on the AppleTV bandwagon, but this makes me more curious (yeah I know about Ted Lasso and it's on the list). Anybody check it out and have opinions?

We watched the 1st two episodes last night and it got some solid hooks in us. They have a solid cast, the production values are high, and it so far has been tight storytelling. I don't know how faithful to the books it is but it feels like a strong start.

Probably will wait until it shows up elsewhere. I read the first book, but it did not make me hungry for more.

First episode was not what I was expecting. I really enjoyed it.

I'm with Coop. I read the books 'back in the day' and really enjoyed them. I doubt this is enough to get me to try Apple+ but the Silo series is something I definitely hope to watch somewhere down the line.

We've been keeping up with it and my wife and I are enjoying it a lot. Good dose of weird concept wrapped in a mystery box with strong characterizations. It's a winner so far.

As a rule of thumb, if I see the name Will Patton, I will give your show a shot.

Glad it’s been good so far though.

Had to pick a new one after Dick Van Patten passed?

Vince Van Patten is probably a top-5 most recognizable poker broadcaster since the 2003 TV boom.

We have one episode left. I've really enjoyed it and it seems I've forgotten a LOT from the books so it was mostly fresh for me.my wife has neither praised nor complained about it so I take that as a positive.

It looks like it was renewed for season 2 but the writers strike is having an impact.

Normally we watch just one hour of TV a day and sometimes not that much. One night we watched 3 episodes. We quite enjoyed it. It was well acted and the story was intriguing. The main character was interesting as were the other characters. Overall I'd give it 6 out of 8 tentacles. Very good but not great. If you haven't seen it and enjoy sci-fi dystopian future type stuff I recommend it.
We finished this over the weekend and are eagerly awaiting season 2. I want to read the books again now.
