Heh, yep. I've got an ironman victory under my belt, but you wouldn't believe the number of times my computer "crashed" or "the power went out".

In case you were actually cutting power to your PC, Alt-F4 is just as effective and has fewer negative consequences for your PC's health.

I'm starting another X-com 2 game. This time I plan on using all Sparks as soon as I can get them. Some missions will be requiring humans tho.
I've never tried all Sparks. I may have to look into that next time.

Meanwhile, back in EW. I just lost my Colonel sniper after leaving her in the open. I'd seen lots of chrysalids, and for whatever reason, I assumed that would be all. Then a big flying disk came out of a broken down building and gooified her. I've had to level up a new one from squaddie level. Actually have a Major and Captain sniper now. Almost ready to attack the alien base.

On a mission with all Sparks I actually had a chryssalid panic. It just laid down and shivered.

Definitely a game for pervs, so of course I really enjoyed it. Can't remember the name or where I downloaded it but I imagine it's still out there if you want an "ecchi" version of Xcom. :P
XXXCOM
Did a little searching and it is still out there. It's called "X-Piratez" (or just "Piratez") and it's a total conversion of Open X-Com. Wiki Link:https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Piratez

It's not explicit, but I wouldn't try playing it at work either... :P

I just finished Xcom 2 for the second time in a month. Before then I hadn't played it in years. During the recent playthru I kept seeing aspects that I didn't remember and then I saw where there had been a patch a few years ago. Man but they changed and added a lot of things with that latest patch. Made the game a lot harder. Altho with an all Sparks roster it help me a lot.

Most of those are multiplayer, which I don't play.

Dang, I'm only at 137 hours and 215 hours for X:COM Enemy Unknown and X:com 2 respectively.

I am, however, at 6,153 hours on Civ VI.

Slight correction, one of those is multiplayer. XCOM has one multiplayer achievement. I'm at 84/88 but grinding the legacy operations for Gold wasn't a thing I was interested in, plus the multiplayer one.

437 hours on xcom enemy unknown (75% achievements)
567 hours on xcom 2 (73% achievements)
29 hours on the bureau  1 playthrough (63% achievements)
244 hours in xcom: chimera squad (this was more fun than I had been lead to believe) (90% achievements)

No idea what my numbers on the originals are. Decent, but not this high.

I'm very sad that Enemy Unknown doesn't work with ultrawide monitors. I haven't been able to play on my main gaming rig since I got the new screen.

I never played the originals (at least not when they were new-ish). Yeah, I don't know what was wrong with me. It came out the year I graduated college, I guess I just wasn't exposed to it.

I did a lot of searching, and if there is one it's pretty well hidden. Lots of people are still complaining about this on various forums.

I'm surprised that Windows doesn't support virtual monitors natively. PCGamer recommended Flawless Widescreen to fix some games, but it doesn't list XCOM. Would something like Virtual Display Manager work? There appears to be an evaluation version to try it out.

That looks really useful! Thanks for pointing it out to me - I'm going to test it out.

The last couple of days I've been alternating between XCOM2 and the original X-Com: UFO Defense. They are so very different yet similar. The original is slower paced. The tactical maps with 10-14 soldiers creeping around is a different itch than the newer game. I so like them both!

Have you tried Openxcom? Improved and enhanced version of the original and it's free.

Original XCOM was a total surprise hit and a lot of bugs were fixed by fans, IIRC.

You bet. That's how I'm playing through UFO Defense right now. Should have mentioned that in my post from yesterday.
