You're probably thinking of that fanfilm where Nathan Fillion played Nathan Drake.

Yeah, I would have loved to see Fillion in this roll, but it's hard to argue with Pedro. Plus the girl from game of thrones was excellent casting.

Reviews have been mostly stellar. One or two folks said it was good, but flat. But many of the others are praising it.

Ninety-freaking-eight percent on RT.

Ummm, wow.

Now the dilemma: which to consume first, the game or the show? Crap.

I read a review saying that the first few episodes are what one expects from a game franchise -- mission-focused action set pieces. But it gets past that to a smarter level. I look forward to watching it...someday.

Good to see Anna Torv is getting work. But I've said it before, who is drilling for oil and running refineries? Twenty year old gas won't work.

Well the first 30 minutes does an excellent job recreating the tension and emotion of the beginning of the game.

Impressed so far.

I would definitely play the game before watching the show. The surprise twists of the game will be a lot more impactful if you didn't know they're coming, and you'll get an experience that isn't tainted by whatever changes they make for the show. Personally, I'd rather have the pure game experience.

Would have been nice if they released the game on PC before March, yeah.

I'm sure fans of the game are getting more out of the first episode, but I've enjoyed what I saw last night. Great opening!

Having played the game, I was annoyed that Joel looted an assault rifle when the game forces you to keep the starting pistol at that point. Also,
Spoiler:
I wondered why they didn't put on masks in the sewers, especially when they found the fungal corpse, and my son said he read somewhere that the producers decided they didn't want actors in gas masks for lengthy scenes so they've cut out that part of the lore.

I am going to play the game first. I just prefer to watch/read/play the original source first, then see an adaptation.

Yeah.....PS4 is getting hooked up to living room tv tonight and I'm gonna try and slam thru the game as quick as possible.
I like to let a few episodes build up to binge watch anyway, so this works out well.

Wow, the actress that plays Sarah was giving me deja vu….until I read that she’s Thandiwe Newton’s daughter. She looks a lot like her.

Havent watch the series yet and just started the game, but I'm wondering if Joel stops every 3 steps in the show like he does in the game?

I had the same problem, and if you Google something along the lines of "Last of Us movement glitch" you'll see it's fairly common. Short version, despite not making much sense to me, is that it's a bad/dirty controller, even if it works fine with other games. There are suggestions out there to clean the sticks, adjust some settings, etc. None worked for me but a new controller worked fine.

It's really quite short. Like 15 hours. I just beat it again this week and running through part 2 again. To be honest I think people oversell the story. It's cool and all, but it's nothing amazing. The second one has a worse story, but the gameplay is so much fun.

I should have known. :(

Enjoyed episode 2, but one thing drove me crazy:
Spoiler:
Instead of flicking her bic (I know because drama) why didn't Anna Torv just pull the pin on one of those grenades?

Bella Ramsey is absolutely stellar on this show. I buy everything she says. I don’t think there’s been a single moment so far where I didn’t believe she was her character and not an actress playing a role.

On PS3 or PS4?

I just realized after going back to GOG Galaxy and searching my entire PC library, that I never owned this on PC…bc it never existed on PC! Wtf.

I guess I must have bought it (or it was a ‘freebie’ with the PS+ sub more likely) for myself to play on my son’s PS3, because I know I played at least the first 15m.

‘Watch first’ it is! :D

Son is an exclusive XBoxer these days, and I let the PS+ sub lapse long ago.

Yeah - it felt like I was watching a movie. Made most (all?) of the Walking Dead episodes that tried to do something similar thematically seem totally amateur. I hope that episode gets an award because it really was amazing.

Yeah, both leads (for this ep) deserve an Emmy nod, IMO.

Heartbreaking.

Fucking Max Richter gets me every time.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg
