Dangit that just ended abruptly. I was watching that. I used to watch Thundarr as a kid on Sat mornings along with The Herculoids.

Nada for me so far and probably nothing for this sale. About all I accomplished was to go through my wishlist and realize how many games I had on it that I no longer have any interest in :(. I didn't touch my Early Access or Pre-release items, I'll deal with those when they hit full release.

It's all rather disappointing, going through the DLC for Prison Architect and Tropico 6 and seeing so many of them with negative reviews. I'm rather off DLC nowadays anyway with the exception of American Trucking Simulator since those aren't really altering or adding to gameplay, just adding new places to explore and drive through.

I've also looked at some colony/city builders, but most are in EA and those that have been in full release aren't jumping out at me. Right now Timberborn, which I bought in Early Access as an except to my rule, is still more interesting than any others I've seen out there.

I bought a few things, usually bargain stuff, generally only something of interest... Or something that was rated by a curator I liked, and under $15, preferably under $10.

Played a bit of Project Wunderwaffe, and it reminded me that I really need to start taking NOTES, and figure out an optimized path, i.e. what to mine first, what to research first, what next, and so on, as right now I'm not making fast enough progress through tech tree. I figure if I really optimize I can finish all the tier I research in 20-25 game days.

I picked up Max Payne 1 & 2 for four bucks. I've had a bit of an urge for that particular brand of noir storytelling of late, and it's one of the few games I played back in 'the day' that I never picked up on Steam during the early sales.;

I think my first copy of Max Payne came with a mouse pad. Ive finished 1 & 2 at least twice...maybe 3 times. Only played MP3 once.

I've played a lot of MP3. I mostly stream my music these days, though.

Back on topic, I've played 1 at least a couple of times, and 2 at least once, but I've never played 3, despite owning a copy... somewhere.

Personally, I'm eager to see how the combined remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 Remedy Entertainment announced earlier this year will shape up. Because while I enjoyed the originals immensely back in the day, they're mighty long in the tooth now. So, here's hoping the remakes will be as enjoyable as the originals, while hopefully improving upon the old mechanics and annoyances (e.g. the first game's jumping puzzles).

I hadn't heard that they were. It looks like they're still in the very early stages of the process (IE - they're still hiring a team), so I don't feel any regret about picking them up.

I've put in 38 hours on COG. I've yet to actually finish a game of it, I just tend to get bored with it and move on each time. I guess it's rather slow for my more limited attention nowadays. But, since I started the original thread on this game, I feel like I ought to pick up the Shadow Government DLC just for the completion sake and if I'm going to do that I might as well get the bundle and get the five minor DLC as well :roll:.

It might actually be the only purchase I make during the sale.

BTW, if you've never played Max Payne 3, be prepared for a significant shift in tone.

While gritty in their own way, the older games' characters and situations felt more like they came from the pages of noirish Batman-style crime fiction comic books, with more fantastical adversaries and kitschy humour alongside the dark gritty mobster revenge stories. Meanwhile, Max Payne 3 generally aims for a more realistic, hard-hitting, and grounded experience with less humour. All three games are good and enjoyable in their own way, but I found the overall narrative style of the first two games more enjoyable. Max Payne 3 was fun, though not particularly memorable in comparison to the originals.

Agreed.

I replayed the first two a bunch of times. I've even seen all three endings for the second one. I played the third one once. Didn't really care for it. Especially the ending. To me it felt a lot more like a Far Cry game than a Max Payne game.
