We got my daughter an iPhone when she turned 13 back in March. She got a brand new number, and has only used it to call and text me, Mrs Skinypupy, Grandma, and about a dozen or so friends. Her number has never been given out to register for any account other than at AT&T (our carrier).
Over the past 6 weeks, she has been absolutely bombarded with spam texts and telemarketer calls, usually receiving a dozen or more every day. While most of them aren't porn-ish (although there have been a couple), they're all very ridiculous for a 13-year-old to receive. "Want to make more money? Put this wrap on your car and we'll pay you $400 a week!" "Your XX Credit Union account has been locked. Click here to reset." "Your student loan is in default, call us immediately or get thrown in jail". That sort of thing.
Since her new number hasn't been given out to anyone other than a dozen or so contacts, I can only assume that AT&T is happily selling her number to marketers the instant we signed up for the new account. That kinda pisses me off, tbh.

It's far more likely that it's either an old number that was reassigned to her or she's just the victim of the random number bombing that hits us all.
I don't know about AT&T but T-Mobile definitely sells our numbers. The account is under my name, and my husband will get spam texts addressed to me by name. A random number bombing wouldn't be able to tie his number to my name.

Yea, a couple of the spam texts to her have included my name. I don't know how they'd get that info other than getting it directly from AT&T.
Most of the calls are marked as "SPAM" or "TELEMARKETER", so that's good I guess.
Apparently I'm getting stuff delivered by Amazon directly from Tulsa. Their first attempt was delivered to somebody else. They showed a picture of a brick column with OU on it. Now they're trying it again with two more packages. Supposed to be delivered today but show it still in travel. <sigh>

You could get 20 of the 5.5 oz containers of Stax and a 30lb box of kitty litter delivered from Target for ~$36.
Or just 34 containers of Stax delivered for $35.69 - amazing.

Yesterday, I may or may not have ordered 8 boxes of scorching hot cheddar cheez-it grooves (and a couple family packs of ritz for the wife) to get free shipping.
Now don't try to relate those purchases to my recent post in the weight tracking thread. Please.
I may order some of those cheez-its for delivery to Daehawk.

I'm tracking Amazon delivery live. I'm supposed to be next. They got close to my house and drove away without delivering. <sigh>
And you're just letting them get away?? The game is afoot, man!
1 large can Starkist tuna in water
splash of Lea & Perrins Worcester

My pc calculator was doing everything but its job just now. I was trying to subtract 10 from a number and I watched it do anything but that until I restarted it then it worked on the first go. Whacky.

And my 8 boxes of grooves arrived today... in 7 separate packages. I can't imagine Walmart made money sending me 7 freaking boxes via fedex (plus 1 usps) on a $36 order with free shipping.
I remember when they sent me three cases of canned soft drinks in one box - along with an 8 1/2 x 11 paperback book I'd ordered. All bouncing around loose. Or the thin, acrylic case that came in a plastic baggie.
The drones on the floor, from what I understand, are given zero free will when it comes to packaging. The algorithm tells them which items go in which boxes (or bags.) They have to know that half of the stuff they're packing won't arrive in one piece, but they don't dare speak. The computer is, after all, never wrong. The computer is your friend.

Destruction of computer property is treason, citizen. Please dispose of yourself in the nearest convenient termination booth or a drone will be dispatched to your location and your next clone charged for the service of retrieving your corpse.

Well of course not. Don't be ridiculous!
WTF, I heard the accent as I read that without even thinking about it.

Yeah! My packages have arrived. Amazon has a feature that lets you follow the item all the way to your house. So when I saw the delivery vehicle stall just down the mountain a couple of blocks I hopped in my car and found the vehicle and got my packages.
Evidently Amazon has hired "independent" drivers to deliver the stuff.

How big were the boxes? Standard Cheez It (not Family Size) can be regularly had for $1.99 around here or $16 for 8 boxes. I don't ever get the huge boxes so I don't know how much they go on sale for. Also IIRC FedEx charge by weight and probably give a huge discount to WalMart. I don't know how USPS work.
