I love Canada Day since my most annoying clients office is in Canada. Nobody has bothered me the last two days! WOOOOO

Today is my little sisters birthday.

O Canada!

Take your pick.
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Ô Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
O Canada!
Land of our forefathers,
Thy brow is wreathed with a glorious garland of flowers.
As is thy arm ready to wield the sword,
So also is it ready to carry the cross.
Thy history is an epic
Of the most brilliant exploits.
Thy valour steeped in faith
Will protect our homes and our rights
Will protect our homes and our rights
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Sorry Rip, Canadian's are happier than 'Muricans. Of that there is no doubt. We live happier and longer lives than Americans. While you have a lot going for you and we are very similar, there are some fundamental flaws in how your country was designed that make Canada better. Sorry to burst your bubble.

As much as I love Canada, I'm not speaking to her until she reclaims Bieber and exiles him to the Northern most reaches of the nation.

I take from his comment that he doesn't want to deal with Canadian winters, though with global warming, neither will we in a few more years...we did have a lot of snow last winter, but really, the snowfalls are nothing like I remember from my childhood. My father even got rid of his snowmobile in Newfoundland because the amount of time he could consistently use it was too low to justify the insurance

Depends on which part of Canada. I see it like a pendulum. The weather will be warmer for a few years, but it will also come back with a vengeance. Our winter where I'm located was brutal this year. The thing about global warming people don't seem to realize, is that it's not just about warming, it's about the extremes at both ends of the spectrum. We've come to have hotter and hotter summers over the last 10 years or so, have started in having to deal with ticks and other bugs that we didn't have to worry about not that long ago.

Oh I know. It was the worst winter that I've seen since I've moved to the GTA in 96. I just know back in Newfoundland things are really changing. Milder in the winter and hotter in the summer

See, that's a new one to me. I'd always heard Newfoundland has some of the harshest winters due to its proximity to the water.

When they get snow, they get it bad. But it's not like it used to be. When I was 13 I got a pair of cross country skis for my birthday (mid-Nov) and I used them that day. However, I have never seen a white Christmas since I was 17 (granted I left home in 96 when I was 24) but from what I have heard from my parents they haven't either.

Huh, interesting. I'm surrounded by lakes here, so we tend to get a lot of lake-effect snow, and while admittedly, we've gotten Chrismas without snow, we still more often than not get it.

Of course, it wouldn't really be Canada Day without everyone gathering around and singing a traditional ballad.

Well, he's an Ice Bear, not a Snow Bear...

When I was a kid, shoveling snow for neighbors was damn near a full-time job. This past winter, I don't think I had to shovel more than a half-dozen times. As long as that keeps up, I'll never have to hire my younger self do shovel my driveway...which sucks for youth trying to make some cash for weed or booze.

I admire Canada. Used to vacation at Wife's family cottage in Ontario for several summers. I hope you'll welcome American refugees when we start fleeing north in 2025, but I know you're not in need of more retirees.

And yeah, extreme weather happens on both ends of the spectrum. Even though New England is considerably warmer and the winters are shorter, Boston had its snowiest winter in history in 2014-15 and we still enjoy a blizzard or two most years.

Well, Canada's really big and the housing market is really good. I'm sure we can fit in one more retiree. You'd be more than welcome.
