I used to go to Europe with a bag not much bigger for a couple of weeks. Roll everything. Fold a suit on top and close it up. It helped that I was on a Fortune 5s tab so hotel laundry service saved me from checking a bag. Nothing worse than checking a bag on any international flight.ImLawBoy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 4:50 pmAn experienced traveler can get a week's worth of clothes in that size bag.RunningMn9 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 4:27 pm Those are some ill-fitting closes. I read a report that the original ticket was for a flight back on Sunday and the new tickets were purchased this morning at 6:00 AM.Paingod wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 4:21 pm Any word on when those flight plans were originally booked? Re: The Ted Cruz Train Wreck
I think he should go with an alien abduction story. His base would believe that more quickly than "I wanted to be a good Dad by spoiling my entitled kid even more" shtick.
And being who and what he is, it's not too late to add that into the mix, or just change to that completely, as if he had never made the other excuses!
"Kids? I don't have kids! You liberal media are so full of lies! Let's ask my good friend Matt Gaetz about this phantom kid shit you're complaining about"
I look forward to seeing Cruz defending some corruption scandal in the future by stating something like "hey, like everybody else, I just wanted to be a good dad and buy my kid her second Porsche Cayman (NOT the more expensive 911, so it's not like I'm spoiling her!). I mean, the other one is a 2017 model! Do you know how badly she would have been teased by her friends at school if she DIDN'T get a later model year? I mean you all see that, right?"

Re: The Ted Cruz Train Wreck
I think it's awesome that from the NYT article, the private school his kids are attending strictly forbids the kind of travel they planned, requiring them to then not attend school for two weeks upon return. And the NYT knows this because a few parents from the school contacted the NYT and quickly provided them with copies of the policy. Again, seems totally reasonable that a trip violating the school's policy would have been planned so far in advance *and* still taken despite knowing the consequences for doing so. So weird that this previously scheduled trip (ha!) just happened to fall in the middle of a random school week and during a power outage crisis.
Regardless, for someone that is so very much hated, it's amazing (to me) that he's not only electable but also highly visible and vocal.

Re: The Ted Cruz Train Wreck
A Ted Cruz PAC paid $1.2 million (80% of it's budget) to the company that published Cruz's book? That seems totally legit
Legal experts tell Salon that if the money was for promotional book sales, as the filings may suggest, then the leadership PAC could be using Reagan Investments as a pass-through to allow Cruz to keep the royalties, which are generally between 10% and 15% for hardcover books, and about half that for paperbacks. Political candidates are not allowed to do that through their campaign committees. But the identity of Reagan Investments itself poses a mystery.

Re: The Ted Cruz Train Wreck
Independent
Twitter has permanently suspended right-wing activist James O’Keefe over secretly filmed CNN videos.
The tech giant’s action comes after O’Keefe released the first instalment of a three part “#ExposeCNN” campaign filmed with hidden cameras.
His first video featured a CNN employee, Charles Chester, talking to an undercover journalist about his views on the news network’s coverage of the 2020 presidential election.
Twitter says that O’Keefe’s account “was permanently suspended for violating the Twitter Rules on platform manipulation and spam.”
...
Mr Chester, a technical director for the network, made his comments when he believed he was on dates with a woman posing as a nurse.
“Look at what we did, we got Trump out,” Mr Chester said in the first video released by O’Keefe’s Project Veritas.
“I am 100 per cent going to say it. And I 100 per cent believe it that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out.”
It's almost as if people are the problem.

I don't think it is. We had right-wingers saying this exact phrase in some venues related to the Colonial pipeline hack.As if Biden has anything to do with shitty, incompetent cybersecurity at a private company. I think we can't give them much benefit of the doubt anymore.

It must hurt to be Ted Cruz.
He worked through his education and early legal career with the aim of becoming some kind of leading conservative intellectual, and now he's down to tongue-laundering Donald Trump's sweaty underwear because that's what the base demands.
I hope it hurts a *lot* to be Ted Cruz.
