Do we have to do anything else to be in the game other than list soon-to-be-deceased? Because

Depending on which Bannonite is installed to run the CIA, it might be a savvy bet to add Meryl Streep and Joss Whedon.tgb wrote:Do we have to do anything else to be in the game other than list soon-to-be-deceased? Because

James Gregory. I thought he died years ago, but I was just looking at the lineup at a new comedy club opening up here and I saw him booked to appear.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

now, Glen Campbell - i keep thinking he's dead, but it's just the Alzheimer's that's put him away out of the public eye.
and Waylon, i thought was still alive, but he really is dead, and has been for almost 15 years now.

Willie and Kris are the only two of that crowd left and they both look the same as they did 20 years ago. From that era I only was able to see George and Merle perform live. I wish I could have seen them all.
New country music is the absolute worst. Seriously, I can't think of a type of music I like less. The other day I was watching a halftime show and some new country guy comes out with his hit song called "Chillin' It." Just the name alone pissed me off. Now classic country, that's another story. That's some of the best music ever made.

Cole Swindell. The local afternoon drive program gets good traction out of mocking Luke Bryan.

Nanette Fabray - she played Mary's mother in a couple of episodes of MTM show. She's 97. And Valerie Harper, who is 3 years younger than Mary but had lung cancer that metastasized to her brain a few years ago, but still alive.Holman wrote:Not to mention Lou Grant.Kraken wrote:Rose Marie outlives Mary Tyler Moore. Are these people truly living or are they simply alive? Does age without thought count?

I didn't make the connection with Valerie / The Hogan Family. It was my first experience with Jason Bateman, and I still enjoy seeing Steve Witting pop up in odd places, like gum commercials.Valerie Harper, the actress best known for her performances on two of the most popular sitcoms of the 1970s as the chronically single, irrepressibly funny New Yorker Rhoda Morgenstern, died Aug. 30 at 80.
Her daughter, Cristina Cacciotti, confirmed her death. Other details were not immediately available. Ms. Harper had successfully battled lung cancer but revealed in 2013 a new diagnosis of brain cancer. In public, she long continued to display the pluck that had endeared her to millions of TV viewers for generations.

I saw an article recently (no time to rediscover it, sorry) make the point that many of the "oldest living people" probably aren't.Max Peck wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2017 8:42 pmEmma Morano - November 29, 1899 -> April 15, 2017Max Peck wrote:Susannah Mushatt Jones - July 6, 1899 -> May 12, 2016coopasonic wrote:Misao Okawa - 5 March 1898 - 1 April 2015

Many of them live or grew up in areas with little to no reliable record-keeping. When we hear that (e.g.) a still-living rural South Asian woman was born in 1905, it's very likely that she has no records to establish the fact, and her current age is based on a census or self-reported survey taken in 1960, when she thought she was 55. Biologically, she might only have been 45 or something, but who's counting?
This phenomenon is more widespread than you might think. Consider how easily we rewrite our histories and incorporate other people's accounts of the past into our "memories." This is even more easily and naturally done when you're the oldest living member of your community, and that's not even counting the effects of aging on the brain itself.

This man is a legend to me. In SO many things Ive watched my entire life. Once I saw him in R.I.P.D I no longer saw Ryan Reynolds as much as I saw James Hong. My favorite of him though is of course Big Trouble in Little China. 91 years and still going. I salute this man.
