I don't have anything official to announce at this point, but if I was a forum user who was thinking about using an avatar, I might get one ready. And if I got one ready, I might want to make sure that it met the following requirements:

1) jpgs only, no gifs or pngs
2) 80 x 80 pixel maximum dimensions
3) 6144 byte maximum file size
4) Nothing that would be considered "Not safe for work"

And if I were someone who, say, wanted to make sure I wasn't forced to look at avatars if I didn't want to, I would not be concerned.
