I have never made it. So I have no recipe. Sorry. :(

My mom made it sometimes. But I never got the recipe from her either. It's never been one of my favorites.

Personally, I'd rather just have tuna salad.

Edit: But I do hope that your casserole came out well, and everyone was happy!

Use real mushrooms and cream instead of that canned soup bullshit.

I also find just a few squeezes of Siracha gives it a subtle complexity compared to the normal bland version.

I have 3 different versions of this. The most recent one blew the others away. I'll see if I can track down the recipe online tomorrow.

Tuna
elbow pasta
frozen peas and carrots (diced)
cheese / milk
While feeding all the beasties out back I let a nice big fart. The smell followed all the way back to the house. It's like it was my baby and felt abandoned.

My cheap and quick recipe, though it's been a long time:

Tuna (two cans)
Cream of mushroom soup (1 can?)
chopped onions
frozen (1 lb bag) or canned (2 cans) peas/carrots/corn/whatever
1 lb elbow pasta

Mix all together. Top with either corn flakes or shredded cheese.

Bake at 350 for 35 - 40 minutes.

Raw onions and canned peas, both cooked for 40 minutes.

Ah crap, I forgot about this today. I believe it uses heavy cream or half-and-half.

No, toasted Ritz cracker crumbs.

I'll try to remember to hunt it down tonight or tomorrow.

I'm not really a casserole person, so I don't have one.

I prefer tuna one of 2 ways: (1) shashimi grade, encrusted with sesame seeds, seared but still cold in the middle, served with wasabi. (2) canned, in olive oil (preferably Tonno), mixed with a few spoonfuls of Miracle Whip, minced garlic (or garlic powder), fresh ground black pepper, white toast, served alongside Mac and Cheese. The kind in the box.

I was conflating my tuna noodle recipe with my mac-and-cheese recipe. They're similar, and since they're both winter dishes I haven't made either since last April or May. Mac & cheese is the one that uses cream and cracker crumbs.

Here's the one I like best:

16 oz sour cream
1/2 c mayo
3 tsp Dijon mustard
2 tsp fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
12 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained (I prefer whole wheat)
16 oz white mushrooms, sliced
1 c frozen broccoli (or peas, or whatever you like), thawed (or blanch fresh veg if you want the extra work)
12 oz tuna in water, drained (since tuna cans have shrunk to 5 oz, I usually use 3 cans)
1 c shredded Jack cheese (or Swiss, or any other soft melty cheese)

Whisk together the sour cream, mayo, mustard, parsley, salt, and pepper. Add the cooked noodles, mushrooms, and vegetable. Flake tuna into the bowl and combine well.

Pour into a 4-quart casserole or baking dish. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese.

Bake at 350 for 30 min, or until the top is golden.

This is actually a Weight Watchers recipe. Their instructions specify fat-free sour cream, low-fat mayo, and the abomination known as low-fat cheese, and limit that to 1/2 c. I don't do this. I also skip the parsley unless I happen to have some on hand.

It’s possible I always used frozen peas. It’s been at least five years since I’ve made it, so can’t quite remember. But definitely had onion in there and never had an issue with it.

-Canned tuna
-Noodles (pick a noodle, any noodle)
-Peas (I usually use froz but after reading this thread I might try canned)
-Garlic
-Chopped onions
-Celery
-Dash of mustard powder
-Dash of siracha
-Fresh mushrooms (canned mushrooms are an abomination IMO)
-Cheddar cheese (though I usually use a blend here, mostly cheddar with some Parmesan, and/or ‘quesadilla’
-Cream or milk or half and half depending on how healthy you want to cook

Optional (but I usually add these as I think it makes the dish better and more interesting/flavorful):
little bit of chopped, non-green bell pepper
Little bit of chopped spinach or arugula

Unless I am supremely pushed for time, I make my own ‘cream of mushroom’ which takes only a few minutes more and SO much tastier (not to mention healthier) : milk/cream + flour + mushrooms

Our only set-in-stone cooking rule is that I have to be completely out of the house if Mrs. Skinypupy wants to make a tuna fish sandwich.

Yes. I am pretty much open to consuming just about anything. But on the list of exceptions? Hot (even tepid) tuna in any form. Also on that list? Green bean casserole. I think maybe I'm just opposed to casseroles in general. I'll need to noodle (non-casserole based) on that.

I'm in the "canned tuna shouldn't be heated" camp. I think my mom made it a couple times growing up and I think it was fine. I'd even be willing to try it again. But I don't think Mrs. Nym would want it. And I could eat a casserole by myself, but I really shouldn't.

In terms of tuna salad recipe, my preference is some combination of solid tuna in olive oil (mostly drained), mayo or Miracle Whip, mustard or mustard powder (Dijon is great but yellow is good too), dill, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, and ground black pepper. Hot sauce if you're into that... Valentina is nice. I don't do crunchy bits, deferring instead to sandwich toppings such as lettuce for this effect.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I don't think canned tuna lends itself to being served warm/hot. But I do love a good tuna steak seared to perfection. Also, I try to look for canned tuna that has extra dolphin in it. It adds just a touch of sin to the experience.
