I wonder which is more likely.
Multiple people randomly and successfully seduced the muse right away or Someone got a book on day 1 and read it last night. I'd think book is most likely.
If it is myse than as long as that player doesn't also have a copy of the book they are safe. If it's book related they dont want to get searched today and personally dont see an issue skipping them if they speak up.
If im right, there is no downside for them to speak up to try to avoid a lynch
Night Actions
Each Night, the Alienist may choose to Analyze a player to determine whether they are Sane or Insane. An Analyzed player who reads as Insane is also immediately Committed to the Asylum.
Had to reread it...again... for some reason thought it was same as day. You need to be insane AND have the book.
Ok..
Correct me if I'm wrong please.
If we can get rid of the alienest THEN it should be safe to reveal?

As it happens, I remain sane and without a copy of the play.

But I think it might be good to lynch someone else in order to locate the (insane) Alienist. Having read as sane yesterday, I am obviously not that misguided pseudo-psychologistic investigator.

For these reasons, I think Lassr just made himself curiously attractive.

Ugh, right.

We have to remember that the lynch test is:

1) Do they have a copy of the play?
a) if Yes, destroy the play and proceed to 2.
b) if No, end here.

2) Is the player insane?
a) if Yes, Commit (eliminate) the player from the game.
b) if No, the player remains active.

Those of us who are not the Alienist are indifferent to the spread of the play. So I guess we don't care about hunting the Alienist until someone is in a position to force a copy of the play upon him.

I'm still sane and without a copy of the play, so lynching me again will do nothing. It will allow the play more time to propagate.

But it seems to me that we should be testing for the Alienist, especially here in the early game where fewer of us (besides him) are likely to be insane yet.

This makes sense if he somehow acquired a copy of the play last night. It would be smart to pass it to him knowing he just got scanned. Or get got lucky taking it from someone else.

Unagi comment brings up an interesting point to me. Trying to figure out the teams/factions at play because I am trying to figure out which team I am on really. Lets try this:

Team Insane:
  • Insane Art Students
  • Sane but wannabe insane Art Students
  • Hildred Castaigne
Team Sane
  • Sane Art Students who are inspired or want to be inspired by Muse
  • Alienist
Own Team
  • Muse
I can see the Muse pushing for insane or sane depending on her situation.

I still can't get over the least risky play being Team Insane since the odds of seducing the Muse and then not getting driven insane by her low. However I suppose its possible to receive a book, not read or destroy to keep the game alive and keep scanning for the muse and then hoping when you find her to be driven insane by her. Ok, im starting to realize the Team Sane actually has a lot more power than I originally though since we don't have to read the book. So... its possible a player got try to steal books and destroy any they find and then never look for the muse effective keeping the game alive forever (seems a bit insane to me).

Am I reading this situation correctly?

I think that if all books are destroyed then the game ends. If you are a sane student when tgat happens you lose.

Also, someone mentioned testing for the alienist but hiw would we do that?

When is a good time to divulge our private data? If I say I am insane then the Alienist pounce. If I say I have the book (but didn't read it) the someone steals it (probably the alienist). If I say I seduced the Muse I am safe at first but I am guaranteed to get scanned by the Alienist then hope the Muse doesn't screw me over by driving me insane. Right now only one of the Art Students insane. There a three books out there so probably two sane art students have them. That means tonight we could be down to only to sane art students. I'm dying to know more but I'm not sure what our optimal route is at the moment and frankly I have nothing to share today. Feels like it is another day to punt.

Yeah but I don't want the game to end without me being inspired. I'm starting to think I really need that book in my hands even if I don't read it right away.

Ugh.. forgot about the unspired thing and just thought stydents need to be insane with the book to win. But they just need to be inspired. They can be sane or insane and have or not have the book. Only the inspired one matters.

I just realized Punisher mentioned something I hadn't thought about. How would we test for the Alienist? According the rules he is insane already but if he doesn't have a copy of the book then he won't be scanned.
The Alienist may be sent copies of the Play and will keep them for one Day, but he may never Read or Copy them. Additionally, all copies of the Play in the Alienists possession are destroyed the following Night.
Seems like he is pretty safe right now unless Hildred Castaigne sent him a book.

Side Note: I have to look up and copy/paste Hildred Castaigne every time. Can we come up with a nickname? how about Hildy?

That's what I meant by testing for the Alienist: looking for someone insane this early in the game.

Well, I was hoping for more wallflower chat but I can understand why even art students want to stay mum today and since Holman has pretty much given the greenlight.

Would be interesting if Holman was the Muse.

Side note: The Muse can never go insane since they can never read the book. Therefore the can never be removed from the game unless Hagrid (that is better name  ) decides to murder them but I don't think Hagrid has a reason to. Am I missing something? Any reason why the muse can not reveal themselves today?
