Not sure what I picked up, some sort of persistent stomach flu, but my weight is still dropping. According to my scale, I'm down to 250.5 lb (as of right now).

No walking at all last week because excuses. I did spend a couple of hours picking up leaves, but that's largely pointless since half of them are still on the trees.

Now that we've reset our clocks from Sunshine & Happiness to Gloom & Despair, weight loss season is officially over. Now I'm just trying to hold the line until spring, especially through the most depressing time of year (Thanksgiving thru New Years).

Goal Weight Achieved Nov 17 2023. Now it's maintenance time. I was shocked my daily budget only moved up to 21xx calories. I will work on a fitness plan now, but now. I have too many health things to sort out but sometimes in the near future, I will get them all moving in the right direction before I commit. For now I will just post a weekly step count average and change my weight to an average weekly weight. If I continue to lose weight, I will revise my maintenance weight goal down over time, but I'm happy with 189 and I no longer want to such a low low calorie restriction.

Stomach problem finally resolved, and I'm back at 252.5, which is still good, given back in July I was almost 30 lb heavier.

If I want to see 240 I guess I may need to pick up exercising. :D

This month with all the freebies for Veteran's Day, and upcoming Thanksgiving is always a bit of a set back for me. The only thing on the Thanksgiving menu I'm not keen on is pumpkin pie. My mom's pumpkin bread was an entirely different matter. :wub:

I love pumpkin pie. With untreated TB, I am not doing anything for Turkey Day. If my parents bring a care package, it will be parted out over several days. Mom's stuffing is the best. Not eating 1500 calories of stuffing in a sitting will be a challenge.

It was just an ungood week calorie-wise. I'm alternating walking/raking days as long as the weather stays dry so getting a fair amount of exercise, but the trees are still holding onto the last 1/3 of their leaves so I'm taking it slow on the raking. (Actually, mowing; I find it most efficient to use my mower to chop and collect the leaves and empty the catcher into leaf bags.)

I'm doing a not-super-strict take on the Mediterranean diet. Namely, trying to cut out processed sugars and most red meat. Limit the dairy and go bigger on fruits and vegetables. This ties in with my wife's efforts to figure out her dietary issues, so it's a good fit.

My weight has been staying consistently around the 200 mark which is good in that I'm not going over, but I'm also not making any progress in going down so this is my attempt to remedy that. I've been inspired by a good buddy of mine who was kind of forced to go on it due to blood pressure issues and he's had great results.

I wonder if something's not quite right with my gut, as I'm still losing weight. Just measured myself right now (about 2PM PST), haven't had lunch yet, and I'm down to 247.8, which was 2 lb lighter than before. That's 40 lbs lighter than I was in July (when I recorded a 287.9).

Ate too much this week. Had to walk a lot to keep my calories under control to get an extra few hundred calories to burn for the week. So glad I'm at a maintenance level. I also broke above 189 once this week. Trying to get to 2400 calories on some days was painful. And I still have too much freshish food in the house. Also got out jogged/walked once this week. Got to 2000 steps in 500 step increments and my arm(s) were hurting too much. I've been scaling back on PT but it hasn't helped the pain yet. Scaling back on PT is likely influencing my weight stability. OtOH, scaling back on PT is leaving me with more reserve energy and I started working on cleaning my house for the first time since my accident.

If I stay this way for another week, I'm likely to revise my maintenance weight to 188. Steps were up to get over the hump to those extra snacks. My arm was hurting and it's been cold and rainy so my walks were pacing in the house so no jogging. I did hit 3000 jogged steps on a walk once. When I walk outside, I'm regularly jogging 2000 steps. If I can ever get to making it a thing, I'll start tracking that as well, somehow. I don't have an easy method yet. Once I get my TB righted, I'll need to look into better shoes. That's an expense I'm not looking forward to. Also I've adapted to the 2,300 or so calories a day I eat after exercise too easily. I'm still hungry. :( I'm debating allowing myself blowout days, but that's a downward spiral for me.

Shrinkflation is also doing wonders for my calorie counting. I'm watching caloric portions getting smaller. In the 11 months I've been doing this, a portion of chips when from 160 calories to 150 as the bags got a bit smaller. A slice of cheese went from 90 to 80. (A $1.29 8 oz pack of cheese went to $1.79 6 oz pack of cheese but still has the same amount of slices) Unfortunately, while my calorie counted gets smaller, my hunger does not.

I went for my physical last week and the good news is my blood work was A+ across the board. Doc was very pleased with all of that.

The bad news is my weight was too high (Thanksgiving and a birthday the week prior didn't help), so he's really pushing for me to drop below 200. The concern is blood pressure - mine is borderline high and he's really wanting to keep me off meds. So that was a nice motivator for me to get the weight down not just for vanity reasons.

I have two parents on blood pressure meds, so anything I can do to put that off as long as possible I'm going to try my darndest.

Revised my maintenance to goal 188 but my weight has been shooting up the last few days. It's likely to continue as bought a ham and am loving my ham sandwiches three times a day in addition to morning yogurt and granola. I'll have to cut back if my weight goes above 188. I must be too generous with my intake estimates. Started cleaning around the house and reducing my PT with the increased daily energy to expend. That might be figuring in to things. I've been getting my walks in by pacing instead of walking.

It's looking like my weight has seemed to find its level. Hoping I am beginning to convert fat in muscle. Not sure yet. Also not sure how to begin exercise more geared toward that. That will come. I hurt myself too often with my activity level at what it is, yet. So I can do what I'm doing for I don't know how much longer.

I thought I was looking a bit leaner and wanted to check my weight... scale isn't working. I guess I am off the hook now!

On the plus side, I added a scale to my wish list. On the minus side, the wife's investment adviser sent her a coffee cake. I'm generally the only one in the house that will eat it.

Mmmm Coffee Cake. Some of my favorites. I have an issue that I don't know how not to buy snack food when it is next to free. I have easily three cubic feet of snack food that I keep in rotation trying to keep any of it from expiring without being eaten. At my current rate, I'm going to start failing when the March food start coming up on Best By dates. Also even as I am consume Cheez It's best by January. They lose something when they've been sitting on the shelf for months and months. Also, I managed to jog 3000 of my 6000 step walk this morning. I real need to start forcing measurables and consistency into my walks and PT. Finally, at just over 11 months of calorie counting and have settled into a maintenance calorie consumption for my current activity level, I'm finally not hungry all of the time. Just a lot of the time. There are days I could go to bed with 500+ unconsumed calories. I don't because I have 10s of 1000s of calories of food that will go bad if I don't eat it and I still like to eat. But I could.

Adding a new measurable this week. I've been trying to jog (trot really. I need to change that) interspersed with my walking. I've been overdoing it, so I need to pull back. I'm going to start with a goal of 5,000 steps a week and work my way up over a long period of time. I'm sore in my shoulder blades of all things as well as my calves.

Bad end to a good year. In the past few weeks I gave back most of the progress I made over the summer. Wish I could live where it's summer all the time.

In all the years we've been doing these threads, I think 4.4 lbs is my biggest loss ever. Combined with the 3 lbs I lost last year I'm trending in the right direction, long term. Unfortunately, though, I've already blown my goal of finishing "comfortably below 185" and this holiday week is fraught with temptations, so I'll have to be extra vigilant in the new year.

Oh look, I finished with my lowest reading of the year, putting 2023 strongly into the Win column. That's what having soup for dinner a couple of times will do. This number won't stick but it's satisfying to see anyway.

I also hit my low for the year today at 184. 270 going in. 184 coming out. I can't complain at all there. Waiting for the ??? weight loss of 2024 thread so I can fiddle with my goals and measurables because fiddling is what I do. I think beginning tomorrow, I will declare myself as moderately active and up my daily calorie allowance. I'm very much OK with my current weight but I am very much not OK with my strength, endurance, energy, stamina, flexibility, ranges of motion, and heart and lung strength. It's time to stop getting rid of weight and converting weight to muscle. It's all better than last year ex-broken arm and hernia aka accident but cards you're dealt and all that.

That's freaking insane, LordMortis. Good for you! :horse:

Now that I've hit the point where the weight loss is necessary (to control blood pressure) rather than cosmetic, I'm feeling pretty inspired to shed the holiday pounds and get back in shape. I'm also turning 50 this year, and I'd like to hit 50 feeling good and looking good.

The other motivator this year is my job uncertainty - there's even odds I could be out of a job after May. I can't control that, but I can control my health and physical readiness should that occur. In other words, I want to be in control of all other aspects of my life, so if I'm put in that position I'm not fighting wars on multiple fronts. This year is going to be all about reducing stress so that when stressors hit, I am prepared.

That's great and amazing LordMortis!

I'm not doing an official end of year weight because I forgot until after breakfast and my official weights are always first thing. I'm below my maintenance goal of 85kg but if I've hit my real goal of 82kg it is because I was sick just after Christmas.

Congrats to all those who had a loss on the year! Especially LM, that’s amazing.

I finished up around 6 lbs on the year. A month of no exercising plus a couple weeks of gorging on vacation put me up on the year.

I’ll crack down after we get back home and try to drop it.

$1.29 for holiday cheeseballs? Where do I sign up? I'm tempted to drive to my Aldi and see if they have them. I bought some holiday candy at 50% off they I shouldn't have but that's not in the same ballpark as cheesballs for $1.29, nor nearly as much of a treat.
