Definitely deserves its own thread. And Butcher becoming a sup? Did not see that coming.

Season 3 is coming 6/3/22 - plenty of time to re-watch (and enjoy) the first two.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

I saw the first 2 seasons. Hopefully there will be a "stay inside" day in the first 2 weeks of June before things really get too busy and this gets forgotten.

I mentioned it in the prime thread, but the animated series of shorts set in the world of The Boys that they call Diabolical are mostly pretty good.

Thanks.
I have no context for The Boys lore outside of the show, so I had no idea.

It's kinda funny because apparently he was being considered for Captain America in the MCU and well...now he's going to be playing The Boys version of him. Well, whatever version they create for the TV show.

Don't forget, this Friday the mayhem begins anew.
I will watch just about anything with Karl Urban in it. So I'm thankful he chooses to work on good shows for the most part.

While I'm excited that this is back, my tv time is limited lately and I'm a bit overwhelmed with shows at the moment. The Boys, Obi-wan and Stranger Things all hitting at the same time

Re: [Amazon] The Boys
While I agree somewhat with that (mostly in regard to OW), it doesn't change that I have a lot that I'd like to fit into limited viewing time. The Boys will be watched ASAP every week though.hepcat wrote:The last two are distant last place holders, my friend.

New season started today (6/3) in an effort to completely overwhelm me with new stuff. Looks like the first 3 are out now and 5 more episodes coming weekly until 7/8.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

Antony Starr just continues to kill it on this show. He’s just so damn good at being a sociopath forced to pretend he’s not.
Edit: wow, end of episode 2 was a fantastic political/cultural statement layered into a temper tantrum. Kudos to the writers. I think it was all summed up when

I've only finished the first episode and I'm trying really hard to think of how many shows I've watched that have managed to deliver an A++ premiere after 3 seasons. Anthony Starr is fantastic, but really - the whole cast is great.

I read the entire comic book series and I truly think the show is actually better in many ways.

Homelander gives a speech to Starlight towards the end of episode 3 that explains perfectly all there is to know about his character and his seeming restraint...even when he seems to be buckling. It's just chilling.

Re: [Amazon] The Boys
OMG - dude - the Flatiron Building - and when I saw it in the show, I thought it looked just like it - but then they named it. This is in/inspired Chicago, about 3 blocks from where I used to live.
\
Fun/.
or.. ok - it's possible that it is totally based off some other Flatiron building. But - I mentally - I feel like I saw that coming.

Re: [Amazon] The Boys
According to this, it's based on the Flatiron Building in New York.
The Boys star Jack Quaid gives fans a tour of the team's new home base, the Flatiron Building.
Of course, it is not the actual, historic Flatiron Building located in New York City. The Boys is filmed in Toronto, Canada, so the building was re-created with a new set for the show's third season. Quaid portrays Hughie Campbell in the Prime Video superhero drama, and in a video posted on Twitter, he takes viewers behind-the-scenes of the Flatiron Building set.
As Quaid notes in the video, The Boys have primarily operated out of dingy basements and bleak locations in Seasons 1 and 2 of the series, so the Flatiron Building is an upgrade for the team (with head room, as Quaid excitedly points out). The Flatiron Building is also where The Boys are based in the original comic series created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson. Other aspects of the set include a dartboard with pictures of Supes that The Boys are not big fans of, hidden narcotics within Frenchie's (Tomer Capone) desk and a piano on Kimiko's (Karen Fukuhara).

Re: [Amazon] The Boys
Thank you!
I bet there are a number of 5+ street intersection buildings that found Flatiron to be a perfect name.
And, as the 2nd City doctrine goes - I'm trained to let NY take full credit.

Re: [Amazon] The Boys
Somewhat ironically, there is also a Flatiron Building in Toronto, where the show is filmed. But there are many more.

Yeah, we're all at his mercy. He's such an interesting character and is actually the real hero.hepcat wrote:Homelander gives a speech to Starlight towards the end of episode 3 that explains perfectly all there is to know about his character and his seeming restraint...even when he seems to be buckling. Re: [Amazon] The Boys
Homelander is the real hero? …wait..what?
I’m guessing you’re being facetious? Because Homelander is a sociopath who is only held in check because he craves adoration. If he doesn’t get that, he’ll kill every single thing around him without any hesitation. That was the whole point of his speech.

I'm the opposite and prefer to wait until it's done before jumping in. There's enough other stuff on my playlist to keep me busy until then.
Will be back to look at all the spoilers in a couple months.
