Rondon lost his perfect game bid with 1 out in the 9th when a pitch brushed the laces on the batter (Perez) for a HBP. Finished it out for a no-hitter.

Degrom pitching today. Maybe the Mets can score a run this time. His 0.64 era isn't cutting it.

I wish you'd never posted that. My wife's birthday is in 2 weeks and her two favorite things are in that picture. This is not good.

It's been 17 years - I'm happy to be hanging in at the bottom of the top 10.

They keep on cramming them into 7 inning double headers. Considering the starters are good and the bullpen not so much it works in their favor.

22 years ago today Fernando Tatis Sr. visited Dodger stadium and became the only player in history to hit 2 grand slams in the same inning. Tatis Jr. comes in tonight and celebrates by hitting 2 solo shots to lead the Padres past Kershaw and the Dodgers 6-1.

How sweet it is! Tatis hits his fifth home run in 3 nights and scores the winning run in the tenth as the Padres come back from 6 runs down after 6 innings to take 3 out of 4 from the Dodgers.

Degrom struck out 15 batters and pitched a complete game on Saturday. His k's per 9 went down. He REALLY wanted to get to 20 or 21 k's, but they started making contact for the last 6 outs.

29IP, 50K's 0.31 ERA in 4 starts. He's regularly hitting over 100 MPH on his FB. It's easily the most impressive pitching I've seen in my entire life. Right now he has more RBIs than earned runs allowed.

The Royals have the best record in the AL and the second-best record in MLB.

I still can't wrap my head around the Red Sox being in first place while the Yankees are tied for last. The Red Sox are only four games ahead of the Yankees, though, and have come down to earth a bit (5-5 over the last 10 games), so I'm guessing this isn't going to last. But still, definitely better than I expected.

Pretty amazing performance. I can't remember the exact stats but I remember Pedro having a similar stretch in 1999.

The legend of Shohei Ohtani continues as he becomes the first pitcher to start a game and lead the league in home runs since Babe Ruth in 1921.

It would be nice if the Mets learned to hit. Pitching has been mostly good, but the hitting is horrible so for. Lindor is going to start hearing the boo birds in force pretty soon if he doesn't start hitting if I know my Mets fans.

Geez I looked up the stats and nobody is hitting. The Mets are actually towards the top in average and they can't hit anything. The freaking Yankees have a team average of .210! Now I get why everyone is screaming.

I'd like to thank the Mets for (hopefully) getting Garrett Richards on track, given that he had a 6.48 ERA going into the game but somehow managed to limit the Mets to one run with 10 strikeouts. Richards is someone that I'd never heard of before finding out a couple weeks ago that he was on the Red Sox.

We have the ability to make anyone look like Nolan Ryan right now. Apparently they did boo Lindor yesterday. I didn't watch but I kind of figured the patience would wear out soon.

We have someone named Degrom pitching today. He has a 0.31 era so he must not have pitched much yet. ;) Can the Mets manage a run is the real issue tonight.

He had a freak injury pitching for the Angels and was never the same after that. Hope he does well.

Yeah, my take from looking him up on Wikipedia is that he seems to be a talented pitcher who has been injury-plagued (starting with the Angels injury you mentioned). So I imagine his upside (why the Red Sox picked him up) is that if he can get and stay healthy he could be very valuable.

We'll see. Hopefully this start is more "he's finally healthy and stable!" and less "the Mets can't hit for crap!". Though I know what Octavious's view of that is. :)
