Thank goodness I have not heard of any BLM counter protests. My guess is National Guard incoming in...3...2...1...

ABCNews is live covering the Capitol. They said the first floor has been breached and the VP was taken out by the Secret Service. Reports of plans to pull the press into the main chamber if the protestors breach other areas and to bar the doors.

Aren't they entering the realm of federal offenses once they breach the walls of these buildings? I wonder if there will be armed responses?

It also feels like this has moved beyond "protesting". Though, I suppose maybe it's just moved beyond "peaceful protest".

CBS says they're on the second floor, on the same floor as the legislatures. But the protesters are wandering around like tourists.

I wonder what other countries are thinking about us right now.

Seems time to take out the guns for civil war. They started it. Wrap them in their Trump flags and burn them. They are in open rebellion. Its happened. Time to remove them.

ABC has video that they are in the Hall of Statues which is right next to the main chamber, no?

CBS has that video too. (I dunno if it's next or not).

I'll say from my time out of country that they were confused and concerned. Some nations at the highest levels began working to protect themselves from this well before today. This just confirms the thesis that they need to worry about a post-Pax Americana world much sooner than they expected.

You would of thought they would have had better security. It's not like this response is super surprising.
Capitalism tries for a delicate balance: It attempts to work things out so that everyone gets just enough stuff to keep them from getting violent and trying to take other people’s stuff.

ABC too. They must be trying to defuse. We saw what they can do during the BLM march - this is not that.

Honestly, I understand the outrage he's experiencing. I hate that I'm that angry right now, but God forgive me, I'm watching a president of the united states egging on violence through his speeches and refusal to condemn said violence. This is unprecedented levels of treason, in my opinion.

I should probably step away from things for a while. I'm only getting angrier.

Everyone understands it. But if there's any chance this situation can be resolved without people getting shot, we should take that option. Political violence is very hard to put back into the bottle once it escapes.

In local news, there are loud and colorful crowds in Austin, but so far things are peaceful.

I am equally angry right now. It also is enraging that people marching for justice get pepper sprayed and riot shields where heavily armed white bros get to do whatever they want. It's not right, but fuck I would like to see them reap the consequences that anyone else would face in this situation. :grund:

Oh, know. Deep inside I feel like Homelander at the rally. I feel shame, rage, and confusion. But the response needs to be from the head, not the emotions. The idea that we, as civilians, take up arms and start shooting other citizens to solve the problem makes us as bad as them.
