Yeah that one hurts. I've always been a fan of the Foos, not only for the music but for their sense of humor. I feel bad for one of my co-workers who is the biggest Foo Fighters fan I've ever met. She has tickets to see them in June. I'm sure she is absolutely devastated.

RIP Taylor, always loved his music video appearances. He seemed like a great guy.

Dangit.

The ones they listed were marijuana, antidepressants, opioids, heroin. All depressants. No telling what the others were. Probably put him to sleep then stopped his breathing.

Yeah, “found dead in a hotel room in Columbia” usually doesn’t leave many options for positive outcomes.

While I never liked their music, he seemed like a good dude (as do all the Foos). RIP

Found dead in a hotel room anywhere leaves little room for a postive outcome, regardless of whether it is in the District of Columbia or the Republic of Colombia. :coffee:

I've seen some reports that he called the front desk complaining of chest pains shortly before his death. Drug-induced heart attack maybe? That's how my best friend's brother died.

Yeah, you hope if that's the case it happened quick because I'm sure he knew what was happening if he was using.

Charles Osborne Jr., World War II fighter pilot, dies at 98
Charles “Ozzie” Osborne Jr., 98, of Laurel Springs, a World War II fighter pilot, longtime printing operator at N.W. Ayer & Son advertising agency, and popular teacher and coach at Camden County Tech, died Thursday, March 17, of congestive heart failure at home.

Mr. Osborne dreamed of being a pilot when he was a boy and enlisted in the Army Air Forces in 1942 after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He made it through two years of intense flight training and piloted his P-47 Thunderbolt on 26 bombing, strafing, and aerial combat missions over Belgium, Holland, and Germany during the winter and spring of 1945.

In the years after, Mr. Osborne would recall on his birthday, Feb. 24, that he flew a mission on his 21st birthday in 1945 and wondered whether he would make it to his 22nd. His 410th Fighter Squadron received a presidential award in 1945 for its service.

Bill Fries, an advertising executive better known by his stage name, C.W. McCall, who had hit country records in the 1970s about long-haul truck driving during the height of the citizens band radio craze and whose song “Convoy” inspired an action film directed by Sam Peckinpah, died April 1 at his home in Ouray, Colo. He was 93.

The death was confirmed by his son Bill Fries III. Mr. Fries announced in February that he was in hospice care for cancer.

Convoy and the related CB Radio fad came out and took hole about the same time I started going to Florida with dad for vacation. I was about 10 years old and dad always had a CB in the car so he could listen for police and stuff. He drove ...uhh...fast'ish. Also sometimes other family were in a 2nd car and they had a cb too. I loved listening to them because of the song. Used to do that arm pump to have them blow their horns on the highway. Loved those days.

those commercials must be it. Were my time era. She had a distinctive voice. That Handi Wrap one I still recall that jingle. I hated the product though..still hate all cling wrap type...its ok it hates me too.

Schefter had an interview where he said he heard, but was not reporting, that Haskins got out of a stopped vehicle on the highway and got clipped.

Aw shit. I did not know until tonight that Gary Brooker had passed away. He died Feb 19 2022.

Gary was lead singer of the 1960s band Pracol Harum. Famous for Whiter Shade of Pale. Many other artist cited it as their favorite song or the best song written. People like The Beatles.

RIP Gary Brooker.

Procol Harum Frontman Gary Brooker Dead at 76

Heres both a live one from 2006 and the original in 1967. I prefer the live newer one best so Im posting above the original :)

I didn't know that. I had just watched a video of him singing jot too long ago.

I have tried, but I can't get my kids to realize that Whiter Shade of Pale is one of the best songs ever recorded.

It definitely is a classic. I never thought about whether it was the best. But it is certainly good enough that I have to pause and go "hmmm..." instead of scoffing.

Edit: That live performance was magnificent.

Just got a call that my uncle passed away around 5:00 this morning. That makes two aunts, two uncles, and two cousins that have all died in the past 6 months. Granted, all the aunts and uncles were in their 90's, but that still doesn't make it easier. I've got another uncle who just went into hospice care this week, so I suspect that we'll likely be adding him to the list soon as well.

If the grim reaper could maybe just give our family a pass for the next couple weeks, that'd be great. :(

I've only lost two extended family members in the past two decades, but I have 12 aunts and uncles mostly in their 70s and all lifelong chain smokers. I honestly thought COVID was going to have a much bigger impact on my extended family but nobody has been touched by it. Yay for rural NY, I guess? I saw a couple fo them 5 years ago. There's an outside chance I will see any of them ever again.

Yeah, no idea why I felt compelled to share that.
