That’s hysterically funny. It’s going to change a few things, definitely.

I’m just going to continue on. It’s not worth going back 40 or so hours for just one origin character.
Spoiler:
Apparently if you get to her body soon enough, you can use a resurrect scroll and get her to join you. But I was way too late for that. But from what I’ve read it’s not worth it. I’m sure I’ll play it through again when the enhanced edition gets released in a year or two, so I’ll just remember to actually look for her before she dies.

It’s just an excuse to play later. There’s enough content, you’ll have plenty.

About Lae'zel:
Spoiler:
I kept her in my party because there is a Legendary sword that does extra damage for a Gith. I didn't defer to her, quite the contrary, but eventually she stuck to me like green goo. She wanted to fight first (she actually beat me!) before getting busy. I could have reloaded and stripped her gear, but es macht nichts.

That happened to me in Dragon Age. I didn't stop in the bar in the initial town and found out later that's where you recruit Leliana. But after you leave the town gets burned down...whoospies, oh well.

I’ve taken to stopping by her body regularly to regale her with all the tales she’s missing out on by dying.

I may also just start storing stuff on her dead body. She should be somewhat useful, for crying out loud.

I'm nearing the end of my initial playthrough, I think.
Spoiler:
I have defeated Orin and Gortash, and am just finishing up some loose threads before moving on to the final battle. I still need to go to the House of Hope and do all of that, plus find a way to finish Shadowheart's storyline. But I'm getting close.
My next playthrough will be the Dark Urge character. I've heard they have one of the best stories in the game, so I'm looking forward to it.

My other favorite is when I watch a necromancer summon a skeleton and then immediately gives them 34 dollars which I loot off their body later.

(Nerd mode, responding to the joke as if it were serious)

From the source material, they're created, not summoned, and they're created from an existing body. Presumably, whoever killed all of those people buried them every couple of feet across the entire world didn't do a very good job of looting them.

Keeping with the rules, that would mean that every four skeletons would also supply everything needed for a zombie cow.

Yeah, it told me she had nothing to say. Speak with the Dead hasn’t proven terrible useful in general for me.

But if I had been able to speak with her, I would have just called her a loser for dying.

Well, I've just started my tactician run playthrough for the achievement and am ready to get wrecked.

On my first run, I went as a (good/resist) dark urge half-elf sword Bard (with a 2 level pally dip for the smites). My companions were Astarion (respecced to wizard), Shadowheart, and Lae'zel.

So, for this run, I want to use the other origin companions: Wyll, Gale, and Karlach. My goal is to resist respeccing anything other than their stats. With that crew I'm short a thiefy-cleric type so I'm going to run with a thiefy-cleric: Elven Selunite (for the Shadowheart LOLs) dex-based war cleric with the urchin background for stealth & sleight of hand (and Elves get perception automatically which is handy for trap detection). I won't have expertise, but Gale can always cast knock on a lock if it's too tough.

No idea what to expect with the upped difficulty, but honestly I found base difficulty fairly easy for most fights so let's see what happens.

OK, so I bounced off this sometime during ACT I. I got tired of the drama. all the party membrs have some sort of hatred for each other, mny of the folks out in the wild are somehow involved with your party emmbers and hating on them. the last bit for me was during a cut scene related to Wyll when a PERSON shows up, and a THING happens. and I am like, I would not play at a table with these people, with this DM, I am not enjoying all this soap opera.

OK, so I think, based on spoilers, that shadowheart is required for the game? Is she? are there any other required companions? If I were to get Shadowheart, then somehow fetch withers with just her. I could grap a couple of mercenaries and complete the game right? never mind about a pile of content just for specific charcters, not if i have to endure all their drama along with it.

You can complete with game with all mercenaries if you want (no companions are required).

Yeah, the only "cost" is that you would miss out on some of the story.

FWIW without any spoilers Shadowheart's broad character arc (at least if you're playing a generally 'good' character) involves her mellowing out to a significant degree.

The only "required" companions at certain points (they can be dropped after) are:
Spoiler:
Shadowheart can get you a legendary weapon (near end of Act 2), Asterion can get you a potion of +2 STR (once you reach Moonrise Tower in Act 2.) Wyll can get you a nice robe early (only if you kill Karlach) and a nice weapon if he is in your party when you go into Ketheric's lair, but those are not essential. Gale can get a nice permabuff in Moonrise Tower, but you would need him in your party to benefit from that. Jaheira must be in your party in Act 3 if you want to recruit Minsc. Shadowheart makes it easy to get into the House of Grief in Act 3.

I finished the main game today. Not a happy ending at all for dear old Tav. The ending also felt very buggy on my PS5. I might go back and try to get a better ending, but it wasn’t the choices I made that bothered me. More in how it all played out.

Geez, I love when they put sex in games. I love gritty, edgy storylines in games, whether they achieve that though Ultra-Weirdness, over-the-top violence, gratuitous sex, or some combination of the 3. In fact, I wish a lot of games had more sex and less violence, which is why I still play the occasional Eroge or Hentai game. After all, when it comes to dropping gratuitous sex and nudity into games, books, anime etc. the Japanese are Absolutely Fearless in a way we'll never see here in America. :P

Now if you'll excuse Apollo, he has to go buy some used women's underwear out of a vending machine.

addendum: apparently this is not actually a thing. I thought it was after hearing about it years ago. however, after googling it, it seems they actually only have the semblance of being used.

Patch 5 out, apparently the most "feature-filled" one since launch:

"today we bring you another reason to return to Faerûn: Patch 5, our most feature-filled patch since launch, comprised of brand new epilogues that bring closure to each player’s unique journey, along with new game modes, and so much more."

Naughty?

Ohhh, for not putting a link? I suspect anyone interested can pull up the patch notes very quickly from whatever source they play the game...but more importantly, I'm on my phone, and I don't generally do links or quotes from here...it's way too complicated and fraught with peril.
