We are witnessing what it is like to be on the wrong side of history with no fucks given. If we survive to see histories written, this will likely be seen as darker than McCarthyism, Vietnam and Nixon combined.

It is nothing less than a continuing break down of the rule of law as an impartial arbiter. There is also the political corruption and graft which if ever investigated would be probably likened to Tammany Hall multiplied by Teapot Dome. If Trump is ousted the last gasp of it will be the indiscriminate looting that went on with PPP and the Corporate aid that is buoying Wall Street.

When Biden (I cannot even consider the alternative) is elected, I hope he forms teams to handle everything essential with him and turns Harris loose to run down every single instance of corruption and grind those responsible into dust. Republican or Democrat, I don't care.

What America needs right now is a reckoning for those responsible and those who profited from the chaos they created. A display that this sort of rampant looting at the top levels while the country burns can not and will not be tolerated.

It probably is a safe prediction to say next to nothing will happen on the looting front. Obama largely turned a blind eye to white collar crime. Trump scaled it back even farther. They'll likely tighten up a little from Trump levels but the capability and appetite to take on the oligarchs is just not here anymore. Their power is too well entrenched. They own Congress and the Courts are sympathetic to their concerns. The people have little to no actual policy influence anymore. It is vested in the "CEO class". We are looking at a long period of decadence even if we get through the next period. What we might see, likely even, is the worst acts of political corruption get popped on the nose. It is the best we can probably hope for.

He's a better man than I'll ever be but then I have no reason believe POTUS is grieving... so again, better then I'll ever be... I hate that I've let my compassion whither so much in the last six years or so, and most especially in the last three.

There are all sorts of people on the world. It's important that there are. Some are better people and will show compassion to evil men. I'm not one of them.

I'm not glad that his brother died but I will not waste a second of thought on Trump's grief or pain, if he has any. He's wished worse on people for minor grievances. Requisite thoughts and prayers to any family and friends of Robert that gave a shit but fuck Donald.

Me, 2015: How did the public just sit by and let Hitler take power? How did any nation allow tyrants to take over in the first place? It just doesn't make sense that they'd sit by and allow that to happen.

I tend to agree. While his statement is ridiculous, there’s plenty of other ridiculous things to mock him on.

First of all, fuck his feelings.

Second, she can mock him on this:

"They come and they drop all their mail to a post office — not all of it, but a big percentage of it — and they say, 'Here, you deliver it, you stupid people,'" the president ranted. "We're losing a fortune. And I said, you've got to raise the rates."

The president was also asked about concerns that he will not leave the White House if he loses the 2020 election.

"The first thing I think of is crooked Hillary Clinton," he replied. "The problem is she didn't accept it. She went crazy. She's still going crazy. I mean, she's gone nuts."

"I go by the election," Trump added. "Now with that being said, I have to tell you that if you go with this universal mail-in where you send millions of votes — in California, tens of millions of ballots being sent to everybody and their dogs. Dogs are getting them, OK? People that have been dead for 25 years are getting them."
Also, every time they use that photo, it reminds me of Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf. What a joke!

To clarify, my statement was in no way intended to covey that I give a single solitary shit about Trump's feelings.

I just don't think there's any particular need to intentionally fuel the howling MAGA banshees by poking fun at that statement, specifically. There's plenty of other material out there to use.

No worries. Whatever is said, fuels them. Whatever isn't said, fuels them. F all them and their desire to death-cult America into the stone ages. Trump, the Red Hats and the GOP need to be resigned to the dustbin of history - the sooner the better.

This. I'm so just, dumbfounded I guess. Punch-drunk maybe. Or hell, both. I don't even care that there's no college football ( or if there is it doesn't really matter), I have zero interest in watching any sports right now bc they all just seem so unimportant. Which of course they are, but before trump I was ok with paying (very) close attention to meaningless shit that made me happy. Now, nothing will make me happy except seeing this man and the ppl who enable him, going down in a political dumpster fire. I'D like for him and his cronies to suffer a legal dumpster fire as well.

He has so broken our country in 4 years that the thought of another 4 years honestly has me feeling clinical signs of anxiety and depression. I don't have anxiety or depression as a baseline.

I'm.signed up to staff a polling location in late October for early voting. About the most active I can get with our family life the way it is right now. This election is so damn important. Ugh.

Ok rant over. Thank you for indulging me

I literally started taking antidepressants this year before the Coronavirus took hold in the US. I attribute it in part to watching the world I've known for 40 years - under both Republican and Democratic leadership - go down in flames.

I'm sure that the thought was to steal the DNC's thunder by having him do something that they would want. Next thoughts in Trump's brain were:

(1) What do Democrats like? Oh I know, women and voting.
(2) "Someone tell me some woman democrat voter that I can pardon!"
