We are pleased to announce that Alan is slated to score the Marvel films "Avengers: Infinity War - Part I and Part II"
These films are scheduled for release in May of 2018 and May of 2019.
I loved his Captain America stuff so much, I bought a few tracks via iTunes back in 2011. I'd listen to the themes when doing laundry or driving to work in the morning.
My recollection on Avengers 1 is Marvel called in Silvestri extremely late, and he had little time to work on the movie. I still liked the music in that more than in most other Marvel Studios films. Seems like this time they're calling him in relatively early, hopefully a good thing.
While I liked the Winter Soldier's soundtrack (by Alan Tyler), it wasn't something I had much desire to listen to outside the movie. I loved Civil War but the music doesn't really stand out in my mind. That's actually per Marvel's preferences, they're not really into John Williams/James Horner type classic, memorable movie music and character themes per se. Guess they missed Silvestri though. I think we do hear cues to his Captain 1 theme in the other two films a bit.
While he's scored a zillion movies since the mid 1980s (http://www.alansilvestri.com/filmograph ... d=noscript), I suspect he'll always be tagged as the Back to the Future guy, even if he also scored many other memorable movies (Romancing the Stone, Predator, The Abyss, Forrest Gump, Cast Away etc.). Plenty of turkeys too.
As far as the Infinity War movies, well, the Russo Brothers are going to need a vacation in a few years.

I really like the main Avengers theme. I'm not one to care about soundtracks, but I've toyed with the idea of picking up the main avengers theme from time to time. So I guess this is good news.
Broadway actor Aaron Lazar is being filmed in Georgia for the new “Avengers: Infinity War,” but viewers of the movie won’t get to see his handsome face.
Lazar — whose credits include “Les Misérables” and “The Last Ship” — is the body double for Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), who is busy playing Thomas Edison in “The Current War,” about the inventor’s competition with George Westinghouse to electrify America.
When he’s done with the Edison flick, Cumberbatch will reshoot scenes where the face of the 6-foot-1 Lazar, a track star in discus at Duke, is seen. A Disney source said, “They are not digitally superimposing Cumberbatch onto another actor’s performance.”

Sheesh, that sounds like a recipe for a disaster.

No different than using a stuntman really.

Except for the potential of having numerous scenes which will be shot later and may require other cast members to come back for those reshoots...or have weirdly disjointed scenes of Cumberbatch interacting with the backs of people's heads or in isolated shots.
I was unexpectedly meh. I'm stoked for the film but this preview didn't do much for me.

Its driving me a bit nuts but Thanos looks like an actor Ive seen in stuff before. When he drops the gem into the gauntlet he even has the mannerisms of this guy. I just cannot think who it is . Its right there on the tip of my brain. And no its not Josh Brolin. Even the voice says its the actor Im trying to think of.

Thanos looks like Matt Damon. There, now you can't unsee it.

Some on twitter are proclaiming him to look like a purple Joss Whedon. I can see it in the stills they’ve been using.

Sounds like Josh Brolin to me - which of course makes total sense

I just don't know if I can handle the grand bad of the MCU being the elusive Scrotum Jaw.

It's a crime against nature that Thanos is not being played by Ron Perlman.

If his face reminds you of your scrotum, you need to see a doctor....

This scene paired with your sig really makes me want to read your version of the Bible.

This latest trailer makes me feel all tingly, like this is going to be the greatest movie in the history of ever. I haven't been this excited to see a movie since the original Star Wars came out.

Yeah, I'd been a little uninterested in this one, but that last trailer was pretty good. Might have to make a rare trip to the theater next month.

Seeing the movie in 30 mins. Overall impression to follow.
Well, guess I'm done with this thread until Saturday. We've got our IMAX tickets ready to go for Saturday morning.

Spoiler:
ok had some time to think. No spoilers included.
The movie was very good indeed. Lots of laughs at times but...they were needed. The violence has gone up a level lots of casual executions of people and whole races. Even though i knew it was one of two movies it still felt like it would wrap up. Daughter 15 was in tears by the end. Only one end credit scene right at the end of credits

Spoiler:
Given how we see Thor thump into the Guardian's ship in one of the trailers I'm guessing Loki is executed and the Asgardian race is no more
I also have a theory that Spiderman dies at the beginning and Dr Strange rewinds time so Iron Man can give him the Iron Spidersuit (given how we see him in his normal suit on the Q Ship but later he's in the Iron Spider.
We haven't seen Black Panther. Is that going to affect our watching of Avengers? Like, is Black Panther a must see before Avengers can make sense?
From what I've read, it helps if you have some idea of the overall MCU metastory (Big Bad collecting superpowered Macguffins to do big bad stuff with them) but other than that, you don't need to have seen all of the previous films. As long as you know Wakanda is a super high-tech place in Africa, basically hidden from the world until recently, I think you're OK.
