Yes, unless someone else picks it up.
The last book comes out this month too.

What I think the show needs to succeed is the addition of a Twiki character. Maybe pair him up with Amos?

I'm not sure how they would considering the last book isn't out yet. But it makes sense to stop here considering (general book spoiler!)

I have the set except for the last one which either has been released or will be soon. Plan to read them as soon as the series finishes this year.

No, they won't and they have stated that. They are coming to what they think is a good finishing point given that they can't complete the entire story.

So they're releasing the last book about the same time they are releasing the "last" season. Talk about moving on...also nice double boom for Amazon $$.

! Leviathan Falls is out! Absorbed it via audio book immediately. I loved it as I loved the series both book and show. Had its quirks and quibbles. But a solid satisfying end.Formix wrote:So they're releasing the last book about the same time they are releasing the "last" season. Talk about moving on...also nice double boom for Amazon $$.
Very excited for season 6.
I'm seeing scuttle butt of continuing show after the season 6 break. What I'd love for them to do to handle the 30 yr jump is a full budget animated series. With the original voice cast (sans Anvar) of the third trilogy. Either in a single style, or and chapter style like love death and robots/ Animatrix. It would lend itself to the more fantastical elements and the aging wouldn't be an issue.

I was hoping that was their intent with Bull. It would make for interesting dynamics with the whole crew. And Bull has a fun backstory/motivations that kinda dovetail.Jaymann wrote:I had forgotten that they...Spoiler:

Amos is definitely the most interesting character. He may never make you feel like he genuinely likes you, but he will do anything and kill anyone (good or bad) to protect you.

Re: [SyFy]Expanse
For someone who hasn’t read the book or watched the show, given the timing of the “end” of both, should the order be show, then books?
Also, is this show appropriate for a mature 11YO? For reference, I let him watch Netflix’s Arcane and haven’t seen anything inappropriate so far about midway through the show.

Show then books is fine if you don't mind some spoilers. The books keep going quite a ways after the show.Carpet_pissr wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 1:07 pm For someone who hasn’t read the book or watched the show, given the timing of the “end” of both, should the order be show, then books?

Not sure on the 11 YO, there are some explicit sex scenes.

Thanks for the heads up. Guess we will skip in that case (or defer for a while at least).
I don’t mind him seeing nudity (and I really don’t understand why anyone would tbh) but explicit sex scenes is different, and where I draw the line.

I love the show, but I still think the actor playing Marco chews up scenery like a runaway riding lawn mower running on nuclear power.

I haven’t read the books, as noted earlier. But the actor playing Marcos seems like he’s been told he’s the villain in a Princess Bride remake. He overacts, in my opinion.

Re: [SyFy]Expanse
Speaking of Belters, I still like their accents but I miss the jargon. In the first couple of seasons you almost needed a translator to understand them. While I appreciate not having to work to comprehend them, they felt more fleshed-out when they spoke an almost-foreign language. I do enjoy the words they still have left, like calling Martians "Dusters."

Re: [SyFy]Expanse
You're not wrong, and there's a hardness the actor lacks that sits behind book Marco's grandiosity. He's trumplike in his ability to never be wrong and not be the center of attention, but also lived a hard enough life to be a successful cold blooded killer. Show Marco isn't physically scary enough but gets the showmanship.hepcat wrote:I haven’t read the books, as noted earlier. The whole show feels watered down in complexity, kinda young adult simple this first episode. I wonder if it's a byproduct of rewrites of story points to get around Anvar.

Re: [SyFy]Expanse
I saw an interesting news story this afternoon that has since disappeared that suggested there is going to be a spin-off series to continue The Expanse after season six. The story claimed that Amazon's agreement with SyFy only allowed for them to produce three more seasons of the show before they would have to negotiate a new agreement. The initial contract would, however, allow for a new series or movie based on the property after season six. The claims is that Amazon will continue the story in a new show by cancelling the current series, then creating a new one. Given what happens in the books following Babylon's Ashes, this approach could actually make some sense.
I have no idea if this is really true because I couldn't find another site to corroborate the report, and the website where I saw the story has since taken it down. Maybe it's just crazy fan speculation, but it would be damn good news if true...
Has anyone else comes across this rumor?
