Most of which have .5-2 hours of game play and consist of little more than "Optimized" or comment on the graphics. Meanwhile reviews are all over the place for it.

For cripes sake don't tell me that, I just ordered it on GMG for 40% off and am downloading now  . According to Steam it will unlock at midnight my time, which by a happy coincidence is when the download should be finished. Anyway, it's the last game I'm probably going to be getting till the big AAA titles start coming out. And I can't let coopasonic and JayDeath and hepcat go out there on their own, it's dangerous! :D

UPDATE: Edited for hepcat!

I got to 92% downloaded and then the rate went from my max (no pun intended) 35 Mbps to near zilch. I'm assuming that everyone is getting their unlock updates. Damn it

I thought I would get up early and unlock and play through the opening. Yeah, unlocking has been going for about 25 minutes now. Sometimes I hate my computer.

Okay, bought-ed from GMG using their coupon. There's been enough praise on performance and fun that I will go for it. Plus, after Dark Souls, I need a game that doesn't make me run to get places.

P.S. I hate you all...damn forum effect.

I read a few of the blurbs on metacritic and the most common complaints are that it is repetitive and the story missions are nothing special. I'm still excited to play. I watched the first 20 minutes or so of a let's play that was mostly cutscene and tutorial and I want to play now!

My first complaint so far is that I can't reverse the Y axis on the mouse control.

There is a Reverse Y Axis switch in the settings but it appears to be for an XBox style controller and has no apparent effect on mouse orientation.

I just got Shadows of Mordor (well, got it a week ago, finished the download yesterday) so I can wait for a verdict on this one, but the $20 price was tempting.

Apparently my ATI 7850 is just below the system requirements of the next generation of games coming out. The 7870 seems to be the new minimum. My computer is ~5 years old. It's probably time.

Ah, got it. I splurged and bought a GTX 970 with part of my year end bonus from work. That damn thing chews through anything I throw at it. What I really need to do is upgrade my CPU though. But I'm hoping this video card buys me another year.

I've been able to put a few hours into it, and so far I'm enjoying it. I can see some of the influence of Shadows of Mordor, but it does seem to be it's own thing and not a post-apocalyptic reskin. The Magnum Opus drives ok, but not spectacularly to start. There are a lot of upgrades, though, so I would anticipate that changing. Hand to hand is fun. I haven't unlocked many of the moves, but it looks like there are a number of upgrades past the basic fast hit/strong hit/block/dodge.

As expected, not a game to play with kids around. It definitely mirrors the brutality of the Mad Max movies.

About 2 hours in and so far I'm enjoying it. It really benefits from Miller's world building in the movie. I'm enjoying the heck out of reading new bios and location history when they pop up.

Combat is simple but fun. Driving doesn't seem any different than most games with cars, but that's to be expected I suppose. I'll give it my full attention this weekend though.

I'm using a X360 controller.... why couldn't they have gone with the conventional LT to aim, RT to shoot? :grund:

Otherwise, so far, so good. Looks pretty good, getting a solid 60 fps.

I'm three hours in and enjoying it immensely. The gameplay is a lot of fun and thankfully the melee combat isn't too hard; I had to give up on Sleeping Dogs because I kept losing at martial arts, but this is better. The graphics are excellent and I'm really liking the cutscenes, which is unusual for me. The voice acting is pretty good.

Yeah, I've spent a good deal of the day playing this and I'm really enjoying it so far. Vehicle combat is getting more complicated as I get further into the wasteland, and the number of upgrades is keeping me interested. The story is enjoyable so far, and there are a lot of lore details in the bios and backgrounds. So far I'm not regretting my purchase at all.

About two hours in here I guess and vehicle combat went from trivial in the tutorial to holy hell out past Jeet's place. I think a slower ramp up there might have been good. I just unlocked a pile of car upgrades so maybe things will get better once I buy all those... I am definitely enjoying it, but damn do I wish they would have stuck with the controller settings every other similar game on the planet uses. :P

Yeah, I'm getting close to that time frame myself. So far I can play everything I have without a problem but the future . . . hmm, not so sure.

I was having such a difficult time with the combat using keyboard/mouse that I finally had to go pick up a wired 360 controller.

I still suck at combat but at least now I can actually get through a fight without being killed by the first guy.

It's $19 at CDKeys.com with questionable but probably ok legality, and $36 at Green Man Gaming definitely kosher.

I did this for Arkham Asylum. It basically reinvented PC gaming for me. The controller, I mean.

Few things as I start the game..

Console'itis - The menu is run by the keyboard?

Theres a weapon called a Thunderpoon?..Really?

Difficult menu UI. Feels either like I said..a console...or old.

I see no way to save inside the game. Is this some kind of open world game with check points or something?

I'm using my X360 controller with my PC on the menu, works fine. You have to click the current item in the left column with the "A" key and that allows changes to the items in the right column with the D-pad.

I'm not having any issues with the menu UI, works like Borderlands or GTAV on the PC.

The game instantly recognizes when I hit a button on my xbox360 wired controller and switches to that. Then, when I'm done driving (which is the only time I really want to use the game controller) and I hit the R key to exit my car, it switches automatically to mouse and keyboard. I love that.

I put in some more time Tuesday night and was able to start getting my version of the Magnum Opus ready. I went with the 50's style body they called Die Hunter (I think). Looks pretty snazzy. Just wish there was a way to catapult Igor Jr. out of the back of it sometimes.

Menu works for me with mouse. To save, hit ESC to bring up that menu, then hit the first tab called Pause. You will see Save Game listed there.
