Stupid question, but why do the Xbox ones show Xbox 360?

I got the Ultimate Game Pass for my son for Christmas...can he claim these games as well, or is this some other program? If so, HOW can he claim them...where? In the online game store via the console itself, or can these be claimed from a desktop PC for instance?

There's a Games With Gold section in the dashboard (that is sometimes hard to locate) and you can 'purchase' them for free there. Once claimed, they're yours as long as you maintain a Gold/Gamepass subscription. You can also claim them on the MS website and download them at your convenience.

It's really time to rename Games with Gold to Just Get Gamepass you idiot. The PS Plus games aren't world beaters, but they kind of look like it when MS doesn't even try. Neurovoider is currently on sale on steam for $3.50. It's an arcade twin stick shooter.

I have a feeling those things are related. MS's "freebies" are lame in comparison to Sony's because Sony doesn't have the awesome Gamepass like MS. Maybe that's what you were suggesting?

Well, my solution would be for MS to give up XBLive Gold. There should be Xbox gamepass, PC gamepass and ultimate gamepass with both. Xbox gamepass should include all the gold features minus the pointless 'free' monthly games with gold. Roll all the legacy gold accounts into Xbox gamepass. Embrace your strength.

I don't even know what Xbox Live Gold is - we have Gamepass, which just by itself is a little complex (Ultimate). OTOH, MS is absolutely terrible at naming conventions (XBox One, Xbox ONe S, Xbox Series X/S, etc) so maybe that's part of the problem here.

Xbox Live Silver is free and lets you play many free to play multiplayer games online.

Xbox Live Gold costs $10 per month and lets you play all the other online games with features including coop play, matchmaking and group support. It also includes two free 'games with gold' a month and special members discounts in the digital store. Most people pay considerably less by buying an annual subscription card or code on sale.

You know what gamepass is. It's clearly the direction Microsoft wants to go.
