Of course, he says he's innocent. And paranoid.
As Belizean police combed the property of expat antivirus pioneer John McAfee Sunday afternoon, McAfee was closer than they could have known. He’d seen them coming, and says he hid — burying himself in the sand with a cardboard box over his head so he could breathe. “It was extraordinarily uncomfortable,” he says, in an exclusive interview with Wired. “But they will kill me if they find me.”
...
McAfee is currently on the run from the police. “Under no circumstances am I going to willingly talk to the police in this country,” he told me this afternoon. “You can say I’m paranoid about it but they will kill me, there is no question. They’ve been trying to get me for months. They want to silence me. I am not well liked by the prime minister. I am just a thorn in everybody’s side.”

Nonetheless, McAfee insists he has no plans to leave the country. “I like it here,” he says. “It’s the nicest place on earth.”

Off the motherf*cking rails. Geez.
Writing under the name "stuffmonger," a handle he has used on other online message boards, McAfee posted more than 200 times over the next nine months about his ongoing quest to purify psychoactive drugs from compounds commercially available over the internet. "I'm a huge fan of MDPV," he wrote. "I think it's the finest drug ever conceived, not just for the indescribable hypersexuality, but also for the smooth euphoria and mild comedown."

Elsewhere, he described his pursuit of "super perv powder" and warned about the dangers of handling the freebase version of the drug: "I had visual and auditory hallucinations and the worst paranoia of my life." He recommended that the most effective way to take a dose is via rectal insertion, a procedure known as "plugging," writing: "Measure your dose, apply a small amount of saliva to just the tip of your middle finger, press it against the dose, insert. Doesn't really hurt as much as it sounds. We're in an arena (drugs/libido) that I navigate as well as anyone on the planet here. If you take my advice about this (may sound gross to some of you perhaps), you will be well rewarded."
Even if he's innocent of the murder he's accused of, there's a 92.8 percent chance that he'll try to eat your face.

My Facebook stream informs me he's an alumnus of my high school.

Well then.

I imagine Charlie Sheen's voice narrating as I read this and he would of course be perfect in the inevitable movie about this guy.

When caught, I bet he'll have a 30 day free trial.

CRN article missing a key word:
John McAfee, the founder of security vendor McAfee who has been living in Belize since 2008, has been on the run since his 52-year-old neighbor, U.S. national Gregory Viant Faull, was discovered earlier this month in San Pedro, a town located on the Belize island of Ambergris Caye.
So his neighbor was discovered?

"Discovered," it's a Hollywood term.

Guatemala wants nothing to do with him:
A lawyer for software company founder John McAfee says he has been denied political asylum in Guatemala, paving the way for his deportation to Belize.

Police in Belize, where McAfee is sought for questioning in connection with the killing of a fellow U.S. expatriate, say they expect him to be returned shortly.

Attorney Karla Paz told The Associated Press on Thursday that Guatemalan authorities had informed McAfee's team that his request had been denied. McAfee was in a Guatemalan immigration detention center after his arrest for illegally entering the country ended a bizarre weekslong journey as a self-styled fugitive with an active blog and constant contact with the press.

Let the conspiracy theories begin about his hospitalization with chest pains:
McAfee was rushed to the hospital in Guatemala on Thursday after his lawyer said he suffered two mild heart attacks earlier in the day, Reuters witnesses said.

McAfee was carried out on a stretcher from an immigration service cottage where he was detained after crossing illegally into Guatemala from neighboring Belize, Reuters reports.

Guatemalan authorities said McAfee's request for asylum had been denied but did not explain why. Shortly after the decision was announced, McAfee issued a plea on his blog for the public to petition Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina to let him stay.
...
McAfee told The Associated Press in an exclusive interview from inside his private room in the center Thursday morning that he had suffered chest pain in the night but had refused to travel to a hospital because he had been using Chinese herbal medicine since suffering a heart attack in 1993.

"Last night I had a little bit of pain, but I am fine this morning," he said. "I don't like western medicine ... if the people around me are kind and compassionate, that's all that matters in life. The people of Guatemala are very kind people, so I have no complaints."

A couple of hours later, the AP returned to McAfee's room and found him changed into a suit but lying on the floor as he was examined by a doctor, who said that McAfee's heart and blood pressure were normal, but nonetheless appeared to be getting ready to move him from the center to a hospital.

The government was initially inclined to grant his asylum request until the nations IT manager caught wind of it. The rest of the cabinet ministers managed to talk him down from "off with his head" to "GTFO".

Apparently he's well enough to travel:
Software mogul John McAfee has been released from detention in Guatemala City and is on a plane bound for Miami.

"They took me out of my cell and put me on a freaking airplane," he told ABC News. "I had no choice in the matter."

McAfee said, however, that Guatemalan authorities had been "nice" and that his exit from the Central American country was "not at all" unpleasant. "It was the most gracious expulsion I've ever experienced."

Sometimes the Keep Portland Weird campaign can go too far
PORTLAND, Ore. – Computer software millionaire John McAfee, who is on the run from police in Belize, now says he plans on staying in Portland for a few years.

Sinovic: You said you’re probably going to be in Portland at least for a year or so. Can you see yourself being here long term?

McAfee: If I keep seeing interesting people like I see all the time then I might. I like interesting things. I like things that change, I like thing that have mystery. Why Portland, for example? Why is this town so strange?

Sinovic: Strange you said?

McAfee: I mean, this is certainly not Pocatello, Idaho.

Sinovic: It’s not Belize.

McAfee: It’s definitely not Belize. There’s a strange country. But I could see myself living here.

I’m not fond of the press, to be quite honest with you, but I think the Portland press is an exception. The young lady from the Willamette Week was very gracious and everyone else has been, as well. The press is usually, I view it as a pack of starving sharks looking for something to eat, which is really what you are. You’re looking for something to report on. I mean, we have this beautiful town here. What can we say about it that people will actually listen to? You’re hungry for the story. What that does is make a hugely competitive.

Sinovic: Do you feel safe in Portland?

McAfee: I feel safer here than anywhere.

Sinovic: What is it about Portland that makes you feel safe?

McAfee: If anybody is after me, it will be the Zeta cartel, Hezbollah. I can’t imagine Hezbollah showing up in Portland without being noticed. I mean, this doesn’t look like a place where they would fit in. Or maybe they would. I do not know. And I’m farther away from any other place in America from where the problem is.

He should stay out of Philly. We have a huge Hezbollah problem here. You can't take a walk or go out to a movie without running into Hezbollah.

He was meandering along quite well there for most of it. Kinda strange in an eccentric but not creepy way. Then Bam! All aboard the express train to Fucking CrazyVille. The fact that it came right after his speech about starved sharks i nthe press makes it extra delicious. If I didn't know better I would say it was part of a brilliant ploy to plead insanity if he ever gets pegged for the murder. Then I say nay and remind myself he is batshit or maybe bathsalt insane.

So why hasn't he been extradited to Belize? Don't we have some type of relationship with them? I mean he is wanted for murder, and he seems to have a desire to do drugs..Or at least did back then.

It just seems odd that we would not send him down to answer for those crimes, as we would hope they would send our criminals back to us. Or was he exonerated at some point?

He was deported:
John McAfee, the software pioneer who is wanted for questioning by Belize police in relation to the death if his neighbor, is being extradited to the United States
...
McAfee, an American, has been held for a week by authorities in Guatemala, where he turned up after fleeing Belize. Once he was in Guatemalan custody, Belize officials said they expected him to be handed over to that country. Instead, he's on his way to Florida.

"Complying with migration law, Mr. John McAfee is to be deported to his country of origin," a spokesman for Guatemala's immigration office told Reuters.
...
McAfee's neighbor in Belize, fellow American Gregory Faull, died of gunshot wounds last month. McAfee wasn't declared a suspect, merely a "person of interest."
No charges, no extradition.
