My love for this sort of thing dates all the way back to Disney's Winnie the Pooh and pop up books as I was forming my basic cognition and has been a staple of my art appreciation every since. Fine. Here's one:

Then suddenly, as before under the eaves of the Emyn Muil, Sam saw these two rivals with other vision. The two figures were Gollum (the shadow), and Frodo (the figure in white.) This is toward the end. Frodo is very close to the power of the One Ring at this point, and it was established earlier, several times, that he could use the ring's power over Gollum to command him. He was doing just that in this passage.

And the next time he touched Frodo, Gollum was cast into the Fire of Doom.

So, did Gollum fall? Or did Frodo's previous command force him into the lava?

Gotta admit... I'm a little bit confused.

Are you agreeing that the ring has this power over man; to fill a man with the desire to kill his own brother (all at the behest of the Ring), so that the Ring can acquire its proper bearer?
Or are you arguing against that?
