Im not up on this yet but posting what Ive got. Pretty amazing. No idea how it works. VR and game and theater could really use this. My mind is in it's WTF moment still.

See it in action. The guy, Lanny Smoot, was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame for inventing this. He is the only Disney employee since Walt to make it.

Well they certainly seem to have the floor of the holodeck working. They still have a ways to go to match TNG. Still pretty cool.

Imagine the uses for this in a handicapped persons home. Late at night the floor itself could move the person from watching a movie on TV in the living room to the bedroom for bed. No need for wheels or special chairs.

Very cool. It'll be a while before it's consumer-ready (from the looks of it, that entire platform is the mechanism, not just the tiles), but if they can get it to the point that you can lay it on your floor and move it afterward, it could be great.
