Grand Theft Auto VI

Post by Moliere »

I couldn't find a thread for this (probably) upcoming game. They are hinting at a trailer in a few weeks.

The other ones are just too stressful. I hope this time around I can play as a CPA trying to do end of year taxes for someone.

GTA V was the first in the series that I actually finished so I'm hopeful the new one will be just as enjoyable. I know it's been rumored for a long time, so it's nice to know something official is finally being released next month.

I have honestly loved every GTA since they went 3d. GTA:SA would probably make my all-time top 10 list. The only one I never finished was Vice City, and that was only because there was one mission I could never get past (rescue your friend on the other side of town.)

I just hope they breathe some fresh air into it. GTA 3 was a new thing. Vice City was set in the 80s in a city iconic to that era. San Andreas was set in 1992 in an area iconic to that era. The 'reboot' era (GTA 4, GTA 5) were both set in their respective 'todays' in a modern city that didn't really have anything that set it apart from what you see on the way to the store every day (well, maybe not if i you live in rural Indiana...)

I've long hoped that the next GTA would be another historical piece - the 1970s. It was the era of the muscle car, and the time when every good guy (and many bad guys) were known for an iconic vehicle. The era of Gone in 60 Seconds, Smokey and the Bandit, The French Connection, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Cannonball Run, the Dukes of Hazzard, even the Rockford Files (and, although a year or two out of date, Bullit.) And it certainly enough variety in iconic music, much of which would be relatively cheap to license. It would be a great time to revisit San Fiero (San Francisco), too - although there are plenty of other options if they want to get out of California. Er, San Andreas. It's also an era that could absolutely be used for Rockstar's typical social commentary and satire - especially if they chose 'San Francisco.'

I just don't want another grungy modern city with a radio full of trendy indie genres. But what I really hope this isn't is a standalone GTA Online 2.0.

1920's Chicago. Make it happen! I finish pretty much every game they make so I'm hoping this isn't too far off into the distance. I've played GTA5 and RDR2 to death.

You seriously think there's even a chance the focus won't be on recreating some form of the most profitable thing they have ever created?

Ya but I need the Rockstar treatment. A fully fleshed out city. Over the top action... The rumor is that it will be a modern day Vice City which I think is pretty boring, but I'll still play it day one anyway. :P

GTA V is the only one I loved. I finished it . Then I kept playing it online with my online friends. We had a Vespa gang. Fully tricked out scooters we'd ride in semi slow/fast moving packs(we put turbos on them to help) and when we saw a player out of their car or apartment we'd come beeping in and melee hit them wit ha bat or something...beeep beep beep BONK. Fun times. Then they'd get in their cars and run us over.

Right before I quit playing GTA V I had a collection of bikes and Id just ride around the city. I won like 6 cars from that casino.

Will be interesting to see what they do with it. Personally, I found GTAV got a little too crazy at times. Much preferred the grounded approach of IV.

Nah, Trevor wouldn't do something like that. He wouldn't dress as Sailor Moon, at least.

Although Vice City was as much about the time as the place. It'd be odd to just do a re-release.

They seem to always have a trifecta of cities that they come back to. NY, LA, and Miami. They've already done NY and LA in the HD era, so next will very likely be Miami.

Yay, a new setting!

Boo, another contemporary setting (likely including a bunch of weird indie radio stations that bore the crap out of me like the last two games.)

Also also: This has a protagonist that both female and non-Caucasian. All the southern Magas must be horribly conflicted.

Parts of the video, starting just after the shot of the VICE sign, appears to be some sort of in-game mobile social media content. It's formatted in portrait mode, with user ids and text messages.

Yeah, our modern eyes are trained to ignore them, but there are about 9-10 scenes that appear to be clips recorded by a social media user, with options to 'follow', etc.

There are long wide beaches full of Floridians - maybe this is indeed a gift to America.
